  • Patent number: 9778838
Abstract: A vessel touch panel device mounted on a vessel includes a touch panel, a first instruction output that outputs a first instruction when a first operation instruction is input to the touch panel, a second instruction output that outputs a second instruction when a second operation instruction is input to the touch panel, a non-touch panel type activation operator that is provided separately from the touch panel, and a controller. The activation operator is operated by a user in order that a state of the vessel touch panel device is transferred from a first state where the first instruction output is inactive to a second state where the first instruction output is active. The controller performs activation control based on when a predetermined first condition is satisfied when in the first state, and deactivation control when in the second state a predetermined second condition is satisfied.

Abstract: A device configured with a user interface (UI) that changes based on a position of a user determines the position of the user through multiple data sources including camera based head tracking and output from motion sensors such as a gyroscope. Each data source may output its own estimated head position. The device may apply a reliability weight to the head position determined by each data source. A composite head position is then determined from the weighted position. The composite position is then used to render the UI.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting gestures using both mutual capacitance and self capacitance touch sensing. These systems may be incorporated into devices utilizing an in-cell touch system, where the display controller is also used to drive the transmitter lines for mutual capacitance scans. The receiver lines can be used in conjunction with the transmitter lines for mutual capacitance sensing, or can be used alone for self capacitance sensing, even when the display controller is not operating, such as when the display is turned off. One-dimensional touch detection using the receiver lines alone can be used to generate different types of gesture inputs or to trigger body proximity sensing.

Abstract: A touch-sensitive position sensor is disclosed. The sensor comprises an array of first electrodes and an array of second electrodes arranged to cross one another in a pattern to define a sensing surface. The sensing surface has a rectangular shape which is formed into a cylinder such that first and second opposing edges of the sensing surface are adjacent one another. A controller is coupled to respective ones of the first electrodes and the second electrodes and arranged to measure changes in an electrical parameter, e.g. capacitance or resistance, associated with the first and second electrodes caused by the presence of the object adjacent the sensing surface. The controller is further operable to determine a reported position for the object from these measurements in a coordinate system defined relative to the electrodes.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for interaction-aware advertising to minimize banner blindness. First, the system concurrently displays, via a graphical user interface, an advertisement and application content. Next, the system detects a user interaction with the application content. Based on the user interaction, the system then locks the advertisement within a viewable area of display for concurrent display at the graphical user interface with a portion of the application content, wherein the advertisement is configured to remain locked until an unlocking event is detected.

Abstract: Systems and methods for multitasking using touch-sensitive devices are disclosed herein. In one aspect, a method includes: displaying, on a touch-sensitive display (“TSD”) of a device, first and second applications such that the first and second applications occupy substantially all of the TSD and are separated at a border between the first and second applications. The method further includes: detecting a swipe gesture at the second application , the swipe gesture moving in a direction that is substantially parallel to the border. In response to detecting the swipe gesture, the method includes: determining whether the swipe gesture satisfies a threshold.

Abstract: Content and a selection activation element are presented on a touchscreen. First input generated by a user holding the selection activation element on the touchscreen is received. While the user is holding the selection activation element, a selection mode is activated. While the user is holding the selection activation element, second input is received generated by the user selecting at least part of the content according to the selection mode. The user releases the selection activation element. The selection mode is deactivated and a contextual menu with one or more user-selectable operation identifiers for the selected part of the content is presented. Third input is received generated by the user selecting at least one of the user-selectable operation identifiers. An operation corresponding to the at least one selected operation identifier is performed.

  • Patent number: 9645651
Abstract: Techniques are described herein that are capable of causing a control interface to be presented on a touch-enabled device based on a motion or absence thereof. A motion, such as a hover gesture, can be detected and the control interface presented in response to the detection. Alternatively, absence of a motion can be detected and the control interface presented in response to the detection. A hover gesture can occur without a user physically touching a touch screen of a touch-enabled device. Instead, the user's finger or fingers can be positioned at a spaced distance above the touch screen. The touch screen can detect that the user's fingers are proximate to the touch screen, such as through capacitive sensing. Additionally, finger movement can be detected while the fingers are hovering to expand the existing options for gesture input.
