Abstract: An apparatus and method for loading media in a digital cinema system is described. Specifically, the digital cinema system has a received storage medium and a local storage medium. A user is prompted to present the received storage medium. Responsive to the user specifying the received storage medium, a list of image programs is displayed. Responsive to the user specifying the image program, a list of audio programs is displayed. Responsive to the user specifying the audio program, how much storage space is required to store the selected image program and audio program on the local storage medium is determined. If the storage space required on the local storage medium is insufficient to load the selected image and audio programs, a warning indicative of insufficient storage space is displayed. Each selected program is then authenticated.

Abstract: Techniques for using a paper interface to replay time-based media information captured for a simulation and/or restart execution of a simulation program from a user-selectable time point. A static representation is generated for time-based media information captured during a simulation. The static representation may be printed on a paper medium. The paper medium on which the static representation is printed may be used to perform various operations such as replaying previously recorded time-based media information for a simulation from a user-selectable time point. The paper medium on which the static representation is printed may also be used to restart execution of a simulation program from a user-selectable time point from a previous run of the simulation program.
Abstract: A gaming device that enables a player to choose or alter certain symbols displayed on the reels of the gaming device. The player can change or select the changeable symbol at any time as long as the reels are not in motion. The gaming device maintains the change until the player changes the symbol again. The gaming device preferably supplies a touch screen along with a video monitor in which the reels and associated stops are simulated. The touch screen enables the player to simply touch the symbol that the player wishes to change. Pressing a single symbol may change the selected symbol or others linked to the symbol. A stop on the reels having a selectable symbol can provide the player with any number of possible symbols from which to choose. The changeable symbols preferably have a direct effect upon whether the player obtains a gaming device award.
