  • Publication number: 20150075240
Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for processing and changing the physical characteristics of a metal workpiece into a final metal component. Predetermined processing parameters are established for achieving a final metal component. The metal workpiece is positioned securely on a support during the changing of the physical characteristics. Impacts are applied to a surface of the workpiece multiple times for achieving the final metal component while controlling the impacting with the predetermined processing parameters. A sensor is provided for continuously sensing the currently existing physical conditions of the workpiece during impacting. The predetermined processing parameters are changed into adjusted processing parameters and the impacts are changed in reaction to the currently existing physical conditions of the workpiece from the sensing and processing of the workpiece until the final metal component has been achieved.

  • Publication number: 20100101291
Abstract: A method and a lubricant application device for regulating the flatness and/or roughness of a metal strip in the outlet of a cold rolling stand by suitable metering of the amount of at least one lubricant per unit time applied to the metal strip in the inlet of the cold rolling stand. The applied amount of lubricant is metered in the form of a quantitative distribution over the width of the metal strip per unit time according to a detected control deviation between an actual and a desired flatness distribution over the width of the metal strip in the outlet of the cold rolling stand or a control deviation between an actual and a desired roughness distribution over the width of the metal strip in the outlet of the cold rolling stand or a combination of the two control deviations.

  • Patent number: 6837129
Abstract: A device for planishing a band saw blades or the like, includes elements for continuously driving the blade, elements for detecting deformations of the blade and planishing elements. The detecting elements consist of position sensors integral with a table positioned underneath the blade, the sensors being uniformly spaced on a line transverse to the forward moving direction of the blade, and the planishing elements consist of hammers co-operating with an anvil positioned underneath the blade, such that, when a sensor detects a deformation of the surface of the blade body, the hammer corresponding to the sensor is actuated to even out the deformation.

  • Patent number: 6668626
Abstract: A system and a method for measuring and determining flatness of a strip (1) of rolled material. Said system is comprising a measuring roll (2) having a cylindrical central structure (41) having a number of measuring devices for force/pressure registration. Said devices is generating measurement output signals (Upi) depending on the contact between the strip and the measuring roll (2), wherein said measurement output signal (Upi) comprises a force component signal (UFi). Said system also comprises a Flatness Determination Unit (56), said unit being arranged for calculating the flatness (&Dgr;&sgr;1) of the strip based exclusively on signals derived from measurement output signal (Upi) values generated by said measuring devices and information about the values of the width and thickness of the strip (1). The system is continuously determining the Wrap Angle (&agr;) from at least one measurement output signal (Upi) and automatically compensating for a changing Wrap Angle (&agr;).

  • Patent number: 6334350
Abstract: This invention relates to an automatic machine to form curved plates (100) of ship's hull-pieces in a shipbuilding process. This automatic machine has the following devices, ajig table (10) to support steel plates, a heating device (21) including a torch to heat one side of steel plates up to the required temperature (about 800 C.), a cooling device to cool down the heated plates by spraying out coolant from several nozzles (32), a measuring device (41) to measure the formed plates set up beside the cooling device. The measuring gauge (41) transmits data to the control system through A/D converter (42). A driving device includes a transverse guide rail (51), a longitudinal guide rail (52), motors, chains and belts, all of which enable the torch, cooler and measuring gauge to move in accordance with commands of the control system.
