Patent number: 12109601Abstract: A method for manufacturing a press-formed product suppresses occurrence of a forming defect such as a crack in a starting material during press forming, and also suppresses occurrence of problems when transferring a starting material during press forming. A manufacturing intermediate is formed by forming, in a flat-sheet shaped blank sheet, a planned outline portion including an undulating shape which is used for forming an outline of an outer circumferential portion of a press-formed product. The flat shape of the blank sheet is maintained in a region from the planned outline portion toward the center of the manufacturing intermediate, or an intermediate stretch-formed portion having a predetermined intermediate forming height is formed in the manufacturing intermediate in the region. A through-hole is formed by piercing a flat portion at which the flat shape is maintained or a stretch-formed-side top portion of the intermediate stretch-formed portion.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2020Date of Patent: October 8, 2024Assignee: NIPPON STEEL CORPORATIONInventors: Shohei Yamazaki, Ryuichi Nishimura, Koichi Hamada, Takuya Oishi, Tohru Yoshida

Patent number: 6637088Abstract: In order to manufacture parts with an outer profile, a workpiece 32 is pressed by a pressure piece 24 through a ring-shaped cutting tool 34. The cutting tool 34 has a plurality of disks with inner cutting edges 62 for removing material from the workpiece 32. Patent number: 5869196Abstract: Porous metal compacts suitable for use as electrodes are formed through the reduction of a metal billet consisting of multiple filaments of an appropriate valve metal, preferably tantalum, contained within, and spaced apart by, a ductile metal, preferably copper. The filaments are elongated and substantially parallel within the billet. The array of valve metal filaments within the billet is surrounded by a continuous layer of valve metal. This metal is preferably, but not necessarily, the same as that which forms the filaments. The valve metal layer preferably completely surrounds the filament array circumferentially and runs the full length of the filaments. Patent number: 5582051Abstract: This flaw-removal device prevents overlooking of flaws in the automatic flaw-cutting process by rectifying the twist of a wire-shaped metal drawn from a cannon-shaped wire supply stand, further promoting efficiency in removing remaining flaws by applying the automatic flaw-cutting process and removing the uncut flaws by hand. In this invention, a twist-rectifying drum 3 is installed in front of a flaw-detecting device 4. It then becomes possible to rectify the twisting of the wire-shaped metal by winding the wire-shaped metal installed on a cannon-shaped wire supply stand around the twist-rectifying drum in a length longer than one turn of the coiled wire-shaped metal so that the wire-shaped metal is freely mounted on the drum. It also becomes possible to remove an uncut flaw by hand by installing a flaw-check and removal site 10 having a specified span between drawing dies 8 and a wire-drawing drum 9, and by stopping the portion of the wire-shaped metal having uncut flaws at the site 10.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1994Date of Patent: December 10, 1996Assignee: Nippon Koshuha Steel Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshiteru Ishikawa, Toshihiro Kidani

Patent number: 5247822Abstract: Containers of explosive liquids can be prevented from exploding by filling the containers with meshes made from metal foil which occupies a negligible fraction of the volume of the container although it must completely fill the container. In order to refill the containers, the rib mesh (1) must consist of sufficiently small, spherical bodies (24). The invention also deals with the production of these filling bodies (24) from aluminum strip expanded into a mesh. The aluminum strip is first passed through a calibration opening (4) which compacts it into a bar (2) of circular cross-section which is then compacted perpendicularly to its length and continuously transported in the longitudinal direction as it is being squeezed. The front piece of the bar is then detached and pressed in a mould with a hemispherical bottom (21) by a die with the same inner contour to form a spherical filling body.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1990Date of Patent: September 28, 1993Inventor: Max M. Patent number: 4216666Abstract: A method for continuously relieving residual stresses in hot extruded then cold drawn brass sections, particularly leaded yellow brass. In the disclosed method, the residual stress is localized near the surface of the brass section during cold draw by limiting the percentage reduction in cross-sectional area for the section as it passes through a smaller angle cold draw die. This is accomplished by using a cold draw die having a relatively small attack angle which minimizes the stress at the center of the brass section and localizes the residual stress to an area near the surface of the section. The configured extruded, cold drawn rod is mechanically worked by passing it through mechanical benders which are set to alternatively bend the rod out of alignment first relative to a horizontal longitudinal axis and then relative to a vertical longitudinal axis.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1978Date of Patent: August 12, 1980Assignee: Extruded MetalsInventor: Hsiao Wu
