With Means To Actuate Tool Patents (Class 72/297)
  • Patent number: 4142394
Abstract: Apparatus for forming circular rims for bicycle wheels from metal profiled strip material in which first strip pieces are cut to a length corresponding to the circumferential length of the rims, curved end portions are formed on each strip piece, and each strip piece is introduced into a three-roll ring rolling apparatus. After the strip piece has been worked up to the trailing curved end portion thereof, the adjustable middle roll of the rolling apparatus is shifted a small distance towards the two outer rolls into a position corresponding with a substantially bending-free passage of the trailing curved end portion of the strip piece.

  • Patent number: 4131003
Abstract: An operator's console is used to produce, and control the storage of, bend data including: bend number, linear position, rotational position, bend angle and final bend number. The bend data is inserted either manually via a keyboard or by a reader reading a suitable data source (e.g., an optical reader reading punched cards). After all of the bend data is produced, checked and stored, the operator's console displays the first set of bend data. The operator then manually moves the tube, both linearly and rotationally, until the tube is suitably positioned. Encoders mounted so as to detect the rotational and linear position of the tube create related linear and rotational position displays during manual positioning. When the tube reaches the appropriate linear and rotational positions, linear and rotational brakes are actuated and lock the tube in position. When the tube is appropriately positioned (brakes locked), the encoder (actual tube position) displays correspond to the related memory displays.

  • Patent number: 4085608
Abstract: An elbow forming apparatus having a forming arbor with an exterior groove for accommodating a tube. A movable mandrel assembly, including a wiping member, is disposed opposite the arbor and has a further groove which cooperates with the arbor to confine the tube therebetween. An elongated rodlike mandrel is slidably inserted into the free end of the tube, after the latter has been fed into a position adjacent the arbor. The mandrel assembly is mounted on a first support structure which is rotatably supported on a second support structure, the latter being slidably supported on a third support structure which is rotatably supported on a frame for rotative movement.

  • Patent number: 4020669
Abstract: The invention concerns a bending machine for bar or rod material such as reinforcement bars for reinforcing concrete. The machine includes a bending mandrel which is stationary during the bending process and a bending tool which can be pivoted about the mandrel. Directly in front of the bending mandrel in the direction of the feed path of the bar or rod material are positioned two clamping cheeks movable relative to one another in a direction perpendicular to the feed path of the material, the cheeks each including a clamping face substantially parallel with the feed path and a cutting face substantially perpendicular to the respective clamping face, the lines of intersection of these faces forming cutting edges substantially parallel with one another.

  • Patent number: 4011429
Abstract: Stretch-wrap forming of titanium parts or the like by resistance heating the part and a steel forming element which is cast into a fused silica die insert. Heating is accomplished by an electrical circuit in which both the part and the element are connected in parallel. The part is stretch wrapped over the element while a low voltage, high amperage current is allowed to flow through both the part and the element.

  • Patent number: 3965714
Abstract: A golf club bending machine for adjusting the club head with reference to the shaft, to vary the position of the head to change the loft and lie angles of the club face in accordance with the user's swing. The device is provided with a clamp to hold the club in position while bending the neck of the club to a predetermined angle, and having a hydraulic power bending unit designed to bend the neck of the club in one position to adjust the lie, and movable into another position to bend the neck of the club to adjust the loft to a predetermined angle.

  • Patent number: 3933020
Abstract: A method of stretch wrapping metallic panels, particularly honeycomb structure sandwich panels, in which the panel is heated by passing an electrical current through it during the forming step. A pair of electrode tabs are joined to opposing edges of the panel and are gripped in gripper jaws which are slidable between tapered blocks so that as more tension is created in the panel, the jaws tighten. The electrical connections are made to the tapered blocks and current flows to the panel across the sliding joint and through the jaws.
