  • Patent number: 6675625
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of correcting the shape of a spray-formed article which has a concave bowing relative to the working surface of the article. Specifically, deviations of such articles from a desired predetermined shape are corrected by applying sufficient heat to a non-working surface to permanently remove at least a partial amount of the concave bowing while leaving the working surface substantially unmarred. This process is repeated iteratively until the article achieves the predetermined shape.

  • Patent number: 6662610
Abstract: A three-dimensional stereoscopic diagram creator creates a three-dimensional stereoscopic diagram including a desired bending angle based on graphic information of a product. A major dimension displayer displays a major dimension, tolerance and the like with respect to the three-dimensional stereoscopic diagram. On the other hand, a test piece displayer displays a test piece of the same material proposed for use as the material used for producing the product. The test piece displayer carries out trial bending on the test piece. A bending angle after a bending load is removed is measured by a bending angle measuring device. A spring back amount setter calculates a spring back amount from a difference in bending angle between before and after the load is removed. A stroke calculator calculates a stroke value relative to the desired bending angle considering the obtained spring back amount. Actual bending is performed on a product piece using the calculated stroke value.

Abstract: An actual plate thickness and actual material constants are measured during punching before bending. The measured information is reflected on the bending, so that the bending is performed efficiently and accurately. • Publication number: 20030010078
Abstract: At a time of executing a bending process of a work according to a cooperation between a punch and a die, a provisional stroke value for obtaining a predetermined angle is determined on the basis of a bending process condition. A test bending process is executed on the basis of the provisional stroke value, and a striking number required for striking the work until the predetermined angle is obtained is judged. Since a stroke value correction amount at a time of a main bending corresponding to the striking number and the predetermined angle is previously determined, a main bending process is executed by correcting to a stroke value at a time of the main bending by computing the corresponding stroke value correction amount on the basis of the stroke value correction amount at a time of the main bending process.

  • Patent number: 6505494
Abstract: A method for calibrating a crimping press for crimping terminals on an electrical conductor. A master tool is positioned in a test crimping press and the press is operated to crimp a test bar to a desired crimp height. During the process of crimping the test bar to the desired crimp height, a standard force profile is generated. The standard force profile is recorded in a control unit. The master tool is transferred to a crimping press to be calibrated. Once the master tool is in place, the crimping press is operated until the crimping press creates a crimp height on the test bar equal to the desired crimp height. During the crimping process that results in the desired crimp height, an actual force profile is determined for the crimping press being calibrated. The actual force profile is compared to the standard force profile and the actual force profile is adjusted by an offset factor such that the adjusted force profile replicates the standard force profile.

  • Patent number: 6233988
Abstract: A bending method and bending apparatus directed to avoiding the risk of die breakage and damage to ram coupling parts due to an abnormal condition of a ram drive shaft and directed to achieving high-accuracy bending in which a uniform bend angle can be produced throughout the entire length of a workpiece without forming a boat-formed belly. In a press brake having three or more drive shafts, the deformation amounts of the ram and the table at each shaft-load imposed point are calculated based on input bending process data. A target closest distance between the punch and the die at each shaft-load imposed point is calculated from its corresponding deformation amounts. The difference between the actual bend angle of the workpiece after bending and a target bend angle is obtained at at least three positions, that are, the ends and center of the workpiece. From these differences, a correction amount for the moving amount of the ram at each shaft-load imposed point is obtained.
