Mechanical Actuator Patents (Class 72/314)
  • Patent number: 9908162
Abstract: A brake assembly machine for forming a hem in sheet metal has a top bar and a bottom bar opposite the top bar. The top bar and the bottom bar can move towards one another to hold sheet metal therebetween. The brake assembly machine also has an angle foot movable to a proximity of a bending bar that moves about a bending bar axis and includes a bending face. As the bending bar moves about the bending bar axis, the bending face of the bending bar can move closer to the angle foot and before the bending bar bending face contacts the angle foot, the angle foot moves to avoid contact with the bending bar.

  • Patent number: 8839651
Abstract: A horizontally stacked hemming press includes a horizontally disposed base. A first vertical support is mounted on the base and disposed generally perpendicular to the base. A linear track is mounted on the base. A horizontally disposed die stack including a plurality of cooperably operable die sets are horizontally arranged in series and moveable along the linear track. Each die set includes a pair of vertically disposed die shoes. A guided press platen is horizontally moveable along the linear track. A second vertical support is mounted on the base distal from the first vertical support and disposed generally perpendicular to the base. A drive mechanism is supported by one of the supports and connected to the press platen for opening and closing the die sets. Actuation of the drive mechanism horizontally moves the press platen and thereby horizontally opens one of the die sets.

  • Patent number: 7596982
Abstract: An apparatus (100) or repairing dented bearing cages (50) comprises: a first contact surface (122) for contacting an outer diameter of the bearing cage (50); a second contact surface (126) for contacting an inner diameter of the bearing cage (50); a first handle (102); a second handle (104) operatively connected to the first handle (102) via a pivot mechanism (106); a retraction element (108) connected to the second contact surface (126); and an adjustment mechanism (116). The retraction element (108) retracts upon movement of the second handle (104) relative to the first handle (102) to move the second contact surface (126) towards the first contact surface (122) so as to impart a force against a dented region of the bearing cage (50) located between the second contact surface (126) and the first contact surface (122).

  • Patent number: 6915943
Abstract: A line-up clamp unit is powered by a diesel engine which drives a hydraulic pump for operating hydraulic equipment in the unit. The unit includes a line-up clamp which has front shoes, rear shoes and expanding copper back-up tiles. Drive wheels are deployed by a hydraulic cylinder and operated by a hydraulic drive motor. A group of aligning assemblies are electrically operated and fiction to extend L-shaped members to beyond the diameter of the pipe being welded so that the unit can be automatically positioned at the end of a pipe section. A control box includes a radio receiver for receiving control signals and producing corresponding electric control commands for operating the line-tip unit. A remote control radio transmitter has operating, mechanisms, including push buttons and toggle switches, for operating the line-up unit, including the engine, drive motor, brakes, line-up clamp and aligners.

  • Publication number: 20030226388
Abstract: A rotary drive apparatus for a rotary body for rotating a rotary body through extension and extraction of the piston rod of the cylinder accurately determines a rotation start and a rotation termination position, and performs intrusive forming with the rotary cam being accurately positioned. As such, high-quality work processing can be implemented; and furthermore, shocks of a cylinder are absorbed, and are not transferred to the rotary body.

  • Patent number: 5784919
Abstract: A corner bending unit (2) for achieving a reciprocating movement in a tool holder (14) for a bending tool (12), the tool holder being articulated to a foundation (4) via parallel links (16, 18). The corner bending unit (2) has a pneumatic cylinder (38) with a piston rod (36) which is pivotally (34) joined to a triangle link (30), which is in turn pivotally joined (32) to one end of a link (28), the other end of which being joined to a pivot point (22) on the tool holder. The triangle link is pivotally carried in the foundation (4) about a pivot point (24) and forms, together with the link (28), a knee-joint mechanism (28, 30), which, under the influence of the cylinder (38) piston rod (36), can be moved from the bent-out position shown to a completely extended position, the tool holder (14) being movable between a starting position and a work position. The pivot point (22) is common to parallel link (16) and the link (28), and pivot point (24) is common to parallel link (18) and the triangle link (30).
