  • Patent number: 9694411
Abstract: A retractable stock guide has a stationary guide rail on which a retractable guide cap is operably supported. The guide rail and cap have two through holes at opposite ends through which two mounting studs extend to attach the stock guide to an associated die member. The holes in the guide cap are ovate, and the heads of the mounting studs are tapered, whereby tightening of the mounting stud shifts the guide cap relative to the guide rail from an aligned, retracted load/unload condition, to an inwardly protruding, extended run condition, wherein the stock strip is slidingly captured between two like stock guides and the mounting surface of the die. Two ball bearing guides can be substituted for the stationary guide rail.

  • Patent number: 8091403
Abstract: A bodymaker ram attachment has a screwed locator (60), which is fastened to a slide block (70) of the bodymaker and can be aligned to the machine. A new ram with an internal thread and location diameter is screwed onto the locator. A clamp ring (65) tightens a locking element (80) so as to fix the ram (50) to the locator (60) when screws (68), which fasten the clamp ring to the locator, are tightened. The advantage of this new attachment is that the ram can be removed quickly by loosening the clamp ring and locking element then unscrewing the ram from the locator. The ram can then be removed and replaced by sliding through the front of the machine without the need for further disassembly.

Such valve includes a continuously rotating rotor that is mechanically connected to the drive for the ram such that for each rotor revolution the ram moves through a complete cycle consisting of a forward working stroke followed by a rearward return stroke. The rotor is constructed of two disks that abut face to face. A rotor drive shaft extends through the center of the rotor and the angular position of the disks relative to each other is adjustable to adjust the portion of each rotor revolution during which compressed air is applied for stripping. • Patent number: 5241849
Abstract: A drawing apparatus pressure pins acting upon the metal sheet holder in the bottom part of the tool are selected, has additional pressure cylinders fastened in the pressure cheek between the actual drawing apparatus acting upon a pressure cheek and the pressure pins. These additional pressure cylinders are individually controllable via valves from a pressure pipe. As a result, a precise influence is made on the drawing conditions of various sheet metal parts and their ejector movement from the bottom part of the tool.

  • Patent number: 5031439
Abstract: A drive for a male-mold-site ejector slidably disposed in a slide of a mechanical metal-forming press has an angle lever pivoted in the slide. One leg of the angle lever act upon the end of the ejector facing away from the male mold and the other leg of the angle lever is in driving connection with a guide rod which is linked to a driving connecting rod for the slide. Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a product such as a constant velocity joint having a recess whose opening has a lesser diameter than its interior, by ironing a workpiece supplied to working parts of punches which workpiece is pre-formed into a hollow structure whose opening has an excess of metal required to be ironed. A group of punches are mounted in a loop around a punch guide for relative axial movement. The group of punches includes a set of first punches and a set of second punches, disposed alternately. Each punch has a working part at an upper end thereof and the working parts are closely assembled in a closed loop at the time of the forming process. Each punch is formed with a groove in a side which is slidable along the punch guide. The grooves in the first punches are different in length from those in the second punches.

  • Patent number: 4840055
Abstract: A drawing apparatus in a press for holding the sheet metal part during the drawing and for the ejection thereof. Additionally, blocking devices are provided which prevent the ejection of the sheet metal draw part at the same time with the upward movement of the press ram. Each blocking device is thereby to be rendered selectively operable or inoperable. A continuous flow of the hydraulic liquid is to be precluded during the inoperative condition of the blocking device. The blocking device consists of a pressure cylinder, of a pressure piston which is displaceably movable on the piston rod displaceable by the draw cushion, and of a compression spring for the displacement of the pressure piston in the ejection direction. The pressure space formed above the pressure piston is selectively pressureless for the inoperative condition, respectively, adapted to be acted upon with controlled pressure for the operative condition of the blocking device.

  • Patent number: 4821552
Abstract: A drawing installation for a press which must produce the holding force during the drawing operation. The drawing ram displaces the sheet metal part and the sheet metal holder against the holding force and additionally must overcome at the beginning of the sheet metal deformation the inertia forces of the accelerated parts of the drawing installation. In order to avoid the forces which occur thereby in an impact-like manner, the piston rods transmitting the holding force and the ejector piston rods are pre-accelerated prior to the drawing ram. The piston rods each include an operating surface adapted to be acted upon in the drawing direction. The pressure spaces coordinated thereto are connected with a pressure quantity space each of a pre-acceleration cylinder and by way of a refill control with a pressure source. The control of the pre-acceleration cylinder and of the refill from the pressure source takes place in dependence on the movement of the drawing ram.

The ram-side ejector mechanism includes a longitudinally displaceable ejector pin, a two-armed lever member pivotally supported by the ram and cam disks mounted on a rotatable cam shaft. The cam disks are effective to pivotally displace the lever member for causing the longitudinal displacement of the ejector pin member. The rotatable shaft carries the cam disk mounted on the displaceable ram with the lever member. A gear linkage mechanism includes a rotational transfer shaft mounted to the machine frame for driving the cam shaft in response to operation of the eccentric drive assembly.

  • Patent number: 4720990
Abstract: An ejector mechanism for multi-stage presses is disclosed. The pusher pin (3) runs inside of a slide (2). The pusher pin is supporter by a lever (6) on a cam curve (7) at the machine frame (1). The cam curve (7) is constructed such that it effects a resting of the pusher pin relative to the machine frame during the period of ejection. The work piece (4) is thereby maintained in an unchanged position between the matrix (34) and the pusher pin (3). The ejection process is interrupted by a lowering of the cam curve (7) by the control means (8). The pusher pin (3) returns to its withdrawn position relative to the slide (2). The pusher pin remains in the withdrawn position for the balance of the backward stroke. An adjustment of the stroke length is performed within the control means (8). A control cam curve (10) is provided, which is composed of several parts (11,12), which can be tilted against each other and which can be slid past each other.
