In order to refill the containers, the rib mesh (1) must consist of sufficiently small, spherical bodies (24). The invention also deals with the production of these filling bodies (24) from aluminum strip expanded into a mesh. The aluminum strip is first passed through a calibration opening (4) which compacts it into a bar (2) of circular cross-section which is then compacted perpendicularly to its length and continuously transported in the longitudinal direction as it is being squeezed. The front piece of the bar is then detached and pressed in a mould with a hemispherical bottom (21) by a die with the same inner contour to form a spherical filling body.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a differential pinion for automobiles or the like, a metal mold for plastic working the differential pinion, and a method for plastic working with the above metal mold. And particularly the differential pinion of the present invention is provided with an end relief section which is effective to reduce a noise and has a continuous fiber flow from a tooth face to the end relief section providing a high pitting resistance. The metal mold for plastic working the differential pinion of the present invention can provide the internal pressure working area of the die in a position deep below the open end by a required distance therefrom, thereby providing the metal mold with higher rigidity and strength. Further, in the plastic working method of the present invention, it is very easy to position the punch under pressure stress in the axial direction.

The accumulator system includes an accumulator having a differential piston and a free piston. The big end of the differential piston and one side of the free piston form a low pressure gas chamber of the accumulator. The other side of the free piston forms a wall of a high pressure gas chamber of the accumulator. As the dies of the forging apparatus close, oil in the chambers behind the dies moves the differential piston against only the gas pressure in the low pressure gas chamber so that closure is essentially without impact.

Abstract: A closed die forging machine is disclosed in which the dies are clamped in their closed position by a hydraulically operated piston and cylinder means. A spacer is positioned between the clamping means and the movable die during the forging operation. Subsequent to the forging operation, the clamping means are released and the spacer is removed so that the movable die can be mechanically moved to its fully open position. By combining a removable spacer and hydraulic clamping means, it is possible to produce high die clamping forces without requiring substantial fluid flow to and from the clamping means. Therefore, pumping requirements are reduced and the tendency of the hydraulic fluid to become excessively hot is substantially reduced. Immediately after the completion of the forming operation within the closed die cavity, the hydraulic forces are released and a spring-powered system controlled by a cam-operated operator causes partial ejection of the finished workpiece from the stationary die.
