Grippers spaced along the axis and away from the axis at distances substantially the same as are die stations are carried by the transfer assembly. An actuator is used to move the transfer assembly reciprocally in directions generally parallel to the axis between first and second axial positions. A ram is provided to move the transfer assembly between first and second stepped positions relative to the axis.

Abstract: The present application provides a technique for simultaneously bending and drawing. In a stamping device, the timing at which an upper pad moves downward and grips a work piece between the upper pad and a first supporting surface is adjusted so as not to be later than the timing at which an upper bending steel makes contact with the work piece. The height of a lower end of the upper bending steel after the timing at which the upper bending steel has made contact with the work piece, and the height of a lower surface of a drawing pad after the timing at which the work piece has been gripped between the drawing pad and a third supporting surface are adjusted such that the lower end of the upper bending steel and the lower surface of the drawing pad move downward while maintaining the same height at a boundary between the upper bending steel and the drawing pad.

In the method according to the present invention, an intermediate product 13 having both side walls 20 extended in a predetermined direction and arranged in parallel with each other and one end side connection wall 30 connecting lower ends of a longitudinal one end of both the side walls is obtained. Next, both side walls 20 formed at the one end of the intermediate product 13 are inwardly bent. Thereafter, ironing dies 60 are pressed down against outer surfaces of both the inclined side walls 20 from an upper side to a lower side to execute ironing of outer surface portions of both the side walls 20 to downwardly plastically fluidize the constituent material of both the side walls 20 to thereby form valve stem guide walls 35 at both sides of the one end side connection wall 30 in a downwardly protruded manner.
