Patent number: 5007264Abstract: In a method for the bending of workpieces by swivel bending jaws, the bent-off part is to assume a predetermined bending angle with respect to the workpiece, for this purpose, in a first bending operation, at least one corresponding leg is to be bent off from the workpiece by means of the swivel bending jaws. Then, the swivel bending jaws are released from the leg and a springback of the leg or the actual bending angle is determined by direct measurements and compared with a set bending angle. Subsequently, an agreement is established between set bending angle and actual bending angle by a renewed bending operation, by a bending-over.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1988Date of Patent: April 16, 1991Assignee: Feintool International HoldingInventor: Johannes Haack

Patent number: 4716757Abstract: Tool and method for bending of shaping the tips of angioplasty guide wires. The tool has two relatively rigid body sections joined together by a relatively flexible hinge, with a flexible tube extending across the hinge for holding the tip of the wire to be bent. The body sections are folded together about the hinge to bend the wire, and the flexible tube tends to form a kink in the wire which helps the wire to retain the shape to which it is bent. Stops limit the movement of the body sections and prevent overbending of the wire.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1986Date of Patent: January 5, 1988Assignee: Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, Inc.Inventors: Jean E. Patent number: 4691555Abstract: A tube bender has two readily connectable and detachable members. A base member has a block with two parallel grooves. The tube groove is formed in an arc having the radius of the desired bend and a cross-section with a radius corresponding to the tube diameter. The second groove has straight sides and an arc similar to the tube groove. Pivotally mounted on the base member adjacent the block is a retainer. In its first position a radius therein clamps the tube in the tube groove. In its second position, a fork fits over the conventional ferrule of a connector fitting. The block is notched opposite the retainer to receive the outer end of the fork and a connector nut. The forming member has a crescent-shaped end of a radius complementary to the second groove so that the crescent may fit snugly in the second groove. A forming block on the forming member engages the outside of the tube and causes it to conform to the shape of the groove. For manual operation, the two members have diverging handles.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1986Date of Patent: September 8, 1987Inventor: Donald R. Vaughan

Patent number: 4682488Abstract: A slit fin heat exchanger is formed by wrapping slit fin tubing into a flat coil having two spaced rows of tubing. The flat coil is located on mandrels which are rotatable about spaced parallel axes with the mandrels and axes initially being in the same plane. The mandrels are rotated about their axes in opposite directions which shifts the plane in which the coil is located. The shifting of the plane of the coil moves a portion of a first row of the coil into contact with a planar portion of a platen and the second row of the coil into a nesting relationship with the portion of the first row which is in contact with the planar portion of the platen. Continued rotation of the mandrels causes folding of the portions of the coil which extends the area of nesting. The folding takes place through up to 120.degree. and the ends of the first row of the coil contacts a portion of the platen causing the formation of a knob at the end of each coil.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1985Date of Patent: July 28, 1987Assignee: Carrier CorporationInventor: John R. Patent number: 4643016Abstract: A hand operated bending tool for forming a clean bend in a venetian blind slat includes a generally U-shaped upward-opening bottom member having a width which exceeds the width of the slat to be bent and having a length proportioned to receive one leg of a slat therein. The bottom member has a low friction curved portion leading into the interior of the member, permitting the slat to roll thereover during the bending operation. An elastomer portion in the bottom member, adjacent the forward end, defines a resilient slat-gripping surface to engage the slat legs and prevent sliding movement of the leg in the channel member during bending. A U-shaped, downwardly-opening top member is received within the bottom member, the top member having a remote end pivotally attached to the bottom member for movement between a raised position to a lowered position in which the upper top member is substantially nested within the bottom member.
