Patent number: 6594889Abstract: A method of processing a leadframe involves steps of transporting a leadframe to load it into a lead processing unit including plural sets of processing presses; adjusting a press pitch of the processing presses according to a work pitch of workpieces on the leadframe by rotating a nut member that is coupled to at least one of the processing presses and engaged on a non-rotating screw shaft extending in the transport direction of the leadframe, so that the nut member moves along the screw shaft and the respective processing press coupled thereto moves with the nut member; and performing a predetermined lead processing on the leadframe using the processing presses after the step of adjusting the press pitch.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1999Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: Towa CorporationInventors: Kazuhiko Bandoh, Michio Osada, Tsuyoshi Amakawa, Yoshihiko Kojima, Fumio Takashima, Kouichi Kawamura

Patent number: 6532649Abstract: A crimping tool according to the invention includes a cylindrical C-5 carbide rod having a plurality of laser cut pyramid points on one end. An adapter sleeve is also provided for attaching the tool to an existing pneumatic press. The pyramid pattern on the end of the tool provides several unexpected benefits. First, the points engage the eyelet and prevent the tool from slipping off the eyelet during the crimping operation. Second, the crimps produced by the tool have a greater surface area than the conventional crimps, exerting more pressure on the wick core without shearing fibers. The pressure exerted on the wick is 25-35% greater than a conventional crimp. Further, the carbide material wears much slower than the conventional crimping tools. This assures a consistency in crimping over a long period of time. An exemplary embodiment of the crimping tool according to the invention is approximately 1.625 inches long and approximately 0.090 inches in diameter.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2000Date of Patent: March 18, 2003Assignee: Edwin B. Patent number: 6519821Abstract: In a hot stamping or embossing method for stamping single sheets or webs with stamping product located on a stamping foil web, the material to be printed is moved through the stamping gap and the stamping foil web is jointly moved in such a way that during stamping intervals it is moved at the same speed as the printing material and outside the stamping intervals, at least temporarily, it has a foil speed differing from the printing material speed. According to the invention between two selected stamping intervals the stamping foil web is briefly accelerated in such a way that a space between succeeding, stamping product-delivering stamping product areas of the stamping foil web is larger than the corresponding, unprinted area of the printing material between succeeding stamping locations, which can be utilized for economizing foil material.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2001Date of Patent: February 18, 2003Inventor: Armin Steuer

Publication number: 20030029218Abstract: To provide a punch press which can realize the high hit rate and the energy saving in the punch drive. A plate material transfer control means 32 and a ram axis control means 33 controlled synchronously are provided. The plate material is started to transfer when a punch tool 6 reaches a pullout height HH2 after punching and it is arranged to come to a height HH1 which is likely to contact with the plate material when completing transferring the plate material. The ram axis control means 33 rotates a servomotor 19 in one direction. Moreover, the ram axis control means 33 controls in a motor speed pattern VP based on the distance of transferring the plate material after the punch tool 6 goes up from the pullout height HH2 and the servomotor 19 is prevented from stopping as possible. The motor speed pattern VP is made to be a trapezoid pattern that the acceleration is constant.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2002Publication date: February 13, 2003Applicant: Murata Kikai Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Atsushi Nakagawa

Publication number: 20020092333Abstract: To improve the speed with which a worksheet is positioned in a press brake, and to further eliminate the need for conventional moving back gauge systems, the present invention replaces the conventional back gauge mechanical system with sensors that non-contactedly determine the positioning of the worksheet, with reference to the bending tools. The thus sensed worksheet position is compared with the desired worksheet location preprogrammed into the CNC controller. Any deviation between the sensed, or the actual worksheet position, with the desired worksheet position for each bend of the worksheet is compensated by further moving the worksheet, until there no longer is any discrepancy between the actual and the preprogrammed desired locations.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2001Publication date: July 18, 2002Inventor: Mikko Lindstrom

Patent number: 6411863Abstract: An auxiliary control system is operatively associated with a press machine controller including a programmable logic controller having a main processor. The auxiliary control system includes a sensor assembly arranged to provide sensor information which is representative of the condition of the press machine. An auxiliary processor is arranged to monitor for the occurrence of press operating events as signified by the sensor information. The auxiliary processor provides a state signal to the press controller which is representative of the results of the monitoring activity to enable the PLC to control the press machine. Additionally, an improved press machine PLC includes an auxiliary sensor assembly for providing sensor information which is representative of the condition of the press machine.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1998Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Assignee: The Minster Machine CompanyInventor: Charles H. Patent number: 6298707Abstract: A crimping tool for crimping crimp contacts, in particular crimp contacts in the form of a strip, and which includes a base body (3) which mounts a pressing device (2), and a table (4) associated with the base body for guiding the crimp contacts to a crimping position. The crimp contacts are fed to the crimping position via the table (4), and the position of the table (4) is adjustable relative to the base body along a guideway (5) so as to permit a precise and variable positioning of the crimp contacts. Also, an adjusting mechanism (6) is provided for an infinitely variable positioning of the table (4) along the guideway (5). The table (4) further includes a positioning device (20) for a functional positioning of the crimp contacts (1) relative to the table (4).Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2000Date of Patent: October 9, 2001Inventors: Paul Fleps, Frank Hanke, Wolfgang Hanke
