Abstract: The present invention reduces contact noise between a turntable and a clamper without increasing the number of components. Spring pieces are formed by forming slit grooves in the corners of a support plate. When the support plate is secured by screws to bosses of a frame, the spring pieces formed in the four corners of the support plate are elastically contacted with the frame, with the support plate slightly floated from the frame. Thereby, vibration transmitted to the support plate from the clamper is absorbed by the spring pieces, thus suppressing noise caused by the vibration transmitted to the support plate.

Abstract: An easily manufacturable optical disc drive that provides for accurate writing and reading of information signals to and from a disc loaded therein by maintaining the horizontal balance of its base during operation, and that provides for smooth loading and unloading of a disc. The optical disc drive includes a base formed of a single metal plate of 1.4–1.8 mm thickness. Major components of the base (i.e., a disc rotation driving mechanism, an optical pickup and a pickup feeding mechanism) are disposed on the base in such a way that the total weight of these components is nearly evenly distributed on the base. The optical pickup is adapted to move across an optical disc between its inner and outer circumferences, while the optical disc is rotated by the disc rotation driving mechanism. The base is supported by a plurality (i.e., at least three) of supporting members, each with an elastic support piece.

The disk tray causes a disk to move between a stored position and a drawn-up position relative to the main apparatus. The movable member supports the disk rotational drive unit and the optical pickup mechanism and is mounted to the frame of the main apparatus so that one end is free to rotate. The elevator drive mechanism causes the disk rotational drive unit and optical pickup mechanism to approach and move away from the disk, with the movable member free to move up and down. The protrusion extends toward one end of the movable member. The movable member is provided with the vibration-absorbing member.

Abstract: A damper has a flexible portion formed of a rubber-like elastic material, such as thermoplastic elastomer, and a lid portion whose inner peripheral portion is formed of the rubber-like elastic material. The flexible portion and the lid portion are respectively equipped with mounting recesses into which mounting shaft members oppositely arranged on a casing of a reproduction device are inserted to hold the damper. With this construction, there is no need to mount the damper such that the lid portion faces the side plate or the bottom plate of the casing. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the thickness of the reproduction device, and to increase the degree of freedom in the design of the casing. Further, since the damper is supported in a floating state, it is possible to obtain a superior vibration damping effect whether the device is installed in a vertical or horizontal position.
