A disk inserting/ejecting slot is formed, a supporting shaft is provided to the case body, the lock lever includes a supported part, a lock part, and a lock-release part, the first shell is provided with an open/close panel that includes an insertion hole, an insertion protrusion part that is inserted into the insertion hole of the open/close panel is provided to an end part of the lock-release part, and an end face of the insertion protrusion part is formed as an inclined face.

Abstract: A disk cartridge according to the present invention includes first and second disk storage portions, each of which has a space to partially store a disk with at least one data storage side. When closed up, the first and second disk storage portions enclose the disk entirely. The disk cartridge further includes a supporting base member with a disk storage portion rotation supporting portion that supports rotatably the first and second disk storage portions so as to make or cover an opening with respect to the disk. The opening is used to get the disk chucked externally and to allow a head to access the data storage side of the disk and read and/or write data from/on that side. At least a portion of the supporting base member overlaps with the first and second disk storage portions so as to prevent the first and second disk storage portions from moving perpendicularly to the disk.

The opening/closing levers turn such that when the cartridge starts to be inserted or finishes being ejected, the engaging portions get engaged with the cartridge with a narrower gap left between them than the gap between the guide walls and that when the cartridge gets loaded, the gap between the engaging portions becomes wider than the gap between the guide walls.

Abstract: A disc cartridge including a cartridge body and a disc housed therein. The cartridge body has an aperture exposing part of the disc and a shutter to open and close the aperture. The shutter has a connecting arm extending from one side. An elastic moving piece extends along the connecting arm with the base end fixed to the free end of the connecting arm. The base end of the shutter has a movement guide piece with a window through which a pressing piece projects. A shutter movement limiting member pivots on the shutter to limit the shutter from opening when the aperture is closed by engaging an engagement portion on a movement limiter provided on the cartridge body. The shutter movement limiting member further pivots with the elastic moving piece to disengage the engagement portion from the movement limiter when a force is applied to the pressing piece.

The cartridge includes: a storage medium; a housing having at least one media access aperture, the storage medium being provided within the housing such that at least one media access aperture exposes a surface of the storage medium; and a shutter assembly movable from a closed position to an open position. The shutter assembly includes: a cover configured to cover at least one media access aperture when the shutter assembly is in the closed position and to expose at least one media access aperture when the shutter assembly is in the open position; and a shutter cam coupled to the cover, said shutter cam including a lock assembly and a cam portion. Abstract: A disk cartridge is provided which, with a small number of parts, can reduce manufacturing costs and facilitate assembly. In particular, the disk cartridge can be assembled easily even if a disk medium is small-sized. Case members of a same configuration are superposed together so as to form a case. Shutter members of a same configuration are disposed so as to correspond to openings of the case members. A lock member and a spring member are provided in common for the two shutter members. The case members of the same configuration and the shutter members of the same configuration are used, and only one lock member and only one spring member are provided. Thus, a number of parts can be reduced, manufacturing costs can be reduced, and assembly can be facilitated.

The method includes receiving a data storage cartridge containing a rotatable data storage medium into a carriage assembly; translating the carriage assembly across a data transfer mechanism; and reading data from the data storage medium using the data transfer mechanism as the carriage assembly is being translated across the data transfer mechanism.
