Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine-readable media are disclosed for providing an audio preview of songs and other audio elements. In some embodiments, an electronic device may operate in either a “play mode,” which allows a user to listen to songs in a normal fashion, or in a “preview mode,” which may be used to provide previews of songs to a user in succession. In some embodiments, the electronic device may seamlessly transition between play mode and preview mode. For example, the electronic device may pause a currently-playing song when the mode of operation switches from play mode to preview mode so that, if the user exits out of preview mode, the original song may be resumed from the pause point. In some embodiments, the electronic device may provide a multi-directional visual interface that allows a user to control the succession of previews provided in preview mode.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for collecting web data in order to create diverse language models. A system configured to practice the method first crawls, such as via a crawler operating on a computing device, a set of documents in a network of interconnected devices according to a visitation policy, wherein the visitation policy is configured to focus on novelty regions for a current language model built from previous crawling cycles by crawling documents whose vocabulary considered likely to fill gaps in the current language model. A language model from a previous cycle can be used to guide the creation of a language model in the following cycle. The novelty regions can include documents with high perplexity values over the current language model.

Abstract: Techniques for facilitating and accelerating log data processing are disclosed herein. The front-end clusters generate a large amount of log data in real time and transfer the log data to an aggregating cluster. When the aggregating cluster is not available, the front-clusters write the log data to local filers and send the data when the aggregating cluster recovers. The aggregating cluster is designed to aggregate incoming log data streams from different front-end servers and clusters. The aggregating cluster further sends the aggregated log data stream to centralized NFS filers or a data warehouse cluster. The local filers and the aggregating cluster stage the log data for access by applications, so that the applications do not wait until the data reach the centralized NFS filers or data warehouse cluster.

Abstract: A method of generating highlights for live videos includes steps of setting a rule for inserting an out point, inserting an in point when a highlight picture appears, automatically finding out the rule whereby the out point is inserted, calculating a position where the out point is inserted to form a highlight segment record, loading the highlight segment record into a standby list, and searching the needed highlight segment record when the playback is in action to find the corresponding game video and a start position and an end position of a highlight segment. Therefore, steps for generating highlights can be reduced, and incorrect operations caused by human error can be effectively decreased.

In addition, the user can play standard audio CD's and MP3 encoded CD's and have access to local AM/FM stations. Mobile devices used to display media broadcast containing the request, such a survey, are also configured to send information using other communication networks, such as cellular networks. Mobile devices collect users' responses to the request and send information corresponding to these responses to a response processing server. The response processing server in turn processes the information, generate a report, and transmit this report to the broadcasting service. These reports may be used for a variety of purposes. In one example, reports are used to update broadcasted content such that mobile device user can view results of their responses as a part of the updated broadcast.

In response thereto, the gateway (114) obtains the content using the first pointer and generates a second different pointer (e.g., a multicast/broadcast URL) to the content.
