  • Patent number: 11570453
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems may provide for a video transmitter that generates a primary bitstream based on a video signal, wherein the primary bitstream is encoded with subsampled chroma information, and detects a static condition with respect to the video signal. Additionally, a plurality of auxiliary bitstreams may be generated, in response to the static condition, based on the video signal. Each of the plurality of auxiliary bitstreams may be encoded with full resolution chroma information. In one example, a video receiver may detect that the auxiliary bitstreams are associated with the primary bitstream, decode the primary bitstream and the plurality of auxiliary bitstreams to obtain luma information and the full resolution chroma information, and multiplex the luma information with the full resolution chroma information.

  • Patent number: 11563995
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for delivering content to a user so as to optimize and enhance the “experience” of the content. In one embodiment, an optimization and monitoring entity (OME) is used which determines, evaluates, and provides notification and/or recommendation of alternative content delivery platforms which are available to a user. The OME receives requests for content forwarded from a content server containing information identifying requesting devices and/or subscriber accounts. The OME examines the capabilities of the registered devices, and identifies/recommends alternative devices based on e.g., video/audio quality, picture size, bandwidth availability, and/or any other additional capabilities of the client devices. A notification is then sent to the client devices indicating which of the user's devices may receive the content alternatively, or in addition to, the requesting device. The notifications may be interactive, allowing the user to select one or more of the devices for delivery.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for providing streaming video from mobile computing nodes. A request for streaming video captured by a mobile computing node can be received at a computer including a processor that executes a controller. The request can include a parameter associated with the streaming video. The computer can initiate transmission of an inquiry message to two or more mobile computing nodes and receive inquiry message responses from the mobile computing nodes that include the mobile computing node. The inquiry message responses can indicate that the mobile computing nodes can satisfy the parameter. The computer can create a list of the mobile computing nodes that can satisfy the parameter and provide the list to the requestor. The computer can receive a selection of the mobile computing node, and initiate delivery of a video stream to the requestor.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a device detects oscillations in a path metric for a network path between violating a service level agreement for an online application and not violating the service level agreement for the online application. The device classifies the oscillations as near-boundary or wild, based on degrees to which the path metric violated a threshold of the service level agreement. The device provides data regarding the oscillations to a user interface that includes an indication as to whether the oscillations are near-boundary or wild. The device adjusts the threshold of the service level agreement based in part on feedback from the user interface, when the oscillations are near-boundary.

In the video audio transmission system, the sending devices supply clocks generated from common time point information to cameras as genlock signals. The reception devices supply clocks generated from the common time point information to the decoding devices as genlock signals. Therefore, clock deviation between the devices can be eliminated, and the buffer overflow and the buffer depletion in the decoding device can be avoided. Frame periods of video signals output by a plurality of dispersed cameras can be aligned, and reliable GOP synchronization can be realized by the encoding devices on a latter stage with respect to the cameras.

Abstract: In various embodiments, an image encoding application determines a first value for an encoding parameter based on a search interval. The image encoding application then encodes a source image using the first value for the encoding parameter to generate a first encoded image. Subsequently, the image encoding application computes a visual quality score for a first reconstructed source image derived from the first encoded image. The image encoding application reduces the search interval based on a comparison between the visual quality score and the target visual quality score. Based on the resulting reduced search interval, the image encoding application determines a second value for the encoding parameter. The image encoding application encodes the source image using the second value for the encoding parameter to generate a second encoded image. Abstract: The media stream delivery system encodes and fragments media streams into numerous media stream fragments maintained on fragment servers. Devices obtain fragments to reconstruct media streams including live real-time media streams for playback on the devices. A device may perform caching of media stream fragments so that particular fragments need not be accessed again from a fragment server. A fragment server or even a content provider can analyze and monitor characteristics of media streams, viewing behavior, content popularity, etc., to identify fragments for caching at the playback devices. Caching indicators along with time period indicators may be included in the media stream fragments.
