Abstract: In one aspect, an example method includes (i) obtaining, by a media player of a media presentation system, an audio signal, where the audio signal includes a voice command and is obtained using a microphone of the media presentation system; (ii) identifying, by the media player, which of multiple speakers of a household uttered the voice command using the audio signal and a speaker-identification model; (iii) performing, by the media player, an action corresponding to the voice command; and (iv) based on the identifying of the speaker using the audio signal and the speaker-identification model, selecting, by the media player, a user profile associated with the identified speaker within a streaming channel so as to bypass a profile selection screen of the streaming channel.

Abstract: Systems and methods for interfacing with electronic devices using inaudible frequencies are disclosed. The method includes generating a query for output by a first device and transmitting an inaudible signal having an activation signal to activate a second device and context data for the query. A voice response to the query is captured and an action based on the voice response and the context data is performed. The method may include generating the query based on interactive subject matter.

Abstract: A method for capturing real-time motion data events from a remotely deployed far edge compute node on a remote asset, such as a racing vehicle, allows for real-time motion simulation of a racing experience. In the method, incoming audio and video data are received from the far edge compute mode, along with incoming motion data. The motion data is imbedded within data frames of the audio/video to create distributable content. The content may be distributed via a content distribution service for real-time, livestream experiences in a motion simulator, or for later playback in a motion simulator.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to identifying a user consuming content so that the user can share information on a social network communication service. Aspects of the disclosure relate to detecting reactions to the content and transmitting information to a social networking service associated with the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to implement a bounded group by query system that computes approximate time-sliced statistics for groups of records in a dataset according to a group by query. In embodiments, a single pass scan of the dataset is performed to accumulate exact results for a maximum number of groups in a result grouping structure (RGS) and approximate results for additional groups in an approximate result grouping structure (ARGS). RGSs and ARGSs are accumulated by a set of accumulator nodes and provided to an aggregator node, which combines the received structures to generate exact or approximate statistical results for at least a subset of the groups in the dataset. Advantageously, the disclosed query system is able to produce approximate results for at least some of the groups in a single pass of the dataset using size-bounded data structures, without predetermining the actual number of groups in the dataset.

Abstract: Systems and methods for sourcing participants for a usability study are provided. In some embodiments the systems and methods receive study parameters including the type of study, time-to-field of the study, required number of participants, and required participant attributes. Additionally, a set of business rules for the study are received. These business rules may be received from a client, extrapolated from a service contract with a client for which the study is being performed, or generated based on the monitored outcomes of sourcing of previous studies. Next, panel sources for potential participants and pricing data are queried, and a set of the sources are selected based upon the pricing data. Participants are then received from these sources, which are then fielded in the study and monitored for outcomes.

Abstract: This disclosure covers systems and methods that both transmit a live video stream from a broadcaster device to viewer devices and relay video clips of reactions (by viewers to the live video stream) to the broadcaster device during presentation of the live video stream. In certain embodiments, the disclosed systems and methods facilitate viewers capturing video clips of reactions to a live video stream using a viewer device and, in turn, transmit video clips received from the viewer device to a broadcaster device during broadcast of the live video stream. For instance, in some embodiments, the systems and methods present the video clips of a viewer's reaction to the broadcaster device during a live-video-stream broadcast. Additionally, in some embodiments, the systems and methods present video clips of other viewers' reactions to a viewer device during a live-video-stream broadcast.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed toward systems and methods for providing a call to action in connection with a live video stream. For example, systems and methods described herein enable a broadcaster to configure one or more benefits and one or more calls to action. Systems and methods described herein further provide the one or more calls to action in connection with a live video stream and based on the broadcaster's configurations. In response to a live video stream viewer correctly interacting with a provided call to action, systems and methods described herein provide a benefit to the viewer.

Abstract: A community space is established for a media content item. Data items are received from contributing account holders. Each data item has metadata including an index time corresponding to a time of relevance of the data item during playback of the media content item. Each data item is separate from the media content item. The data items and their associated metadata are stored within the community space in correlation with the media content item. A streaming request for the media content item is received from a requesting account holder. The media content item is streamed to a device of the requesting account holder in response to the streaming request. At least some of the data items and their associated metadata correlated with the media content item are transmitted from the community space to the requesting account holder in conjunction with streaming the media content item to the requesting account holder.

A content item (e.g., a news article, a social network post, etc.) may be evaluated utilizing a future event detection model to identify a future event (e.g., a festival). The future event detection model may have been trained to identify future events based upon part of speech analysis and entity recognition analysis of text within content items. In an example, the future event detection model may be used to identify locational features, temporal features, and/or entities from the content item. A user having a user interest in the future event above an interest threshold may be identified based upon user identifying information (e.g., a social network profile) being indicative of user interest in the future event. A personalized future event notification of the future event may be provided to the user.

The crowd-sourced responses to the request can be converted to a random variable. An operation can be performed upon the random variable. Abstract: Methods and systems for providing media asset recommendations are described. An input to a user interface requesting content associated with a media asset is detected without corresponding display of the media asset on a display device associated with the user interface. In response, a user interaction history comprising interaction data associated with the media asset is retrieved. The interaction data is analyzed to identify an indecision pattern. In response to detecting the indecision pattern, a plurality of people are identified based on a match between the media asset and media profile information of the people. An electronic query is transmitted to each of the people requesting a recommendation for the media asset. The received responses are generated for display for the user.

Abstract: A recommender system provides recommendation scores based on stored ratings for media items, for example to assist control of selection of a media item for rendering by a terminal. Data representing stored rating values for media items is stored in a storage system for use to compute the recommendation scores. A processing system records an input rating value for a first one of the media items in the storage system, based on measured activity or input of a user. Furthermore information is acquired about a group of users in the company of which the input rating value applies for the user. This information is recorded in combination with the rating value. The processing system may compute a recommendation score for a second group of users from the stored rating values, dependent on a comparison of the second group of users and the recorded information about the group.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that processes network data. During operation, the system obtains, at a remote capture agent, a first protocol classification for a first packet flow captured by the remote capture agent. Next, the system uses configuration information associated with the first protocol classification to build a first event stream from the first packet flow at the remote capture agent, wherein the first event stream comprises time-series event data generated from network packets in the first packet flow based on the first protocol classification. The system then transmits the first event stream over a network for subsequent storage and processing of the first event stream by one or more components on the network.

Abstract: A system and method for generating or increasing viewership of a broadcast of an episode of a series by an affiliate to a plurality of receiver stations is disclosed. A live prefacing media program is transmitted to users within an affiliates market in such a way that does not conflict with the affiliate's exclusive right to transmit a media program within that market. The live prefacing media program includes media program clips from previous episodes of a series, and users can vote on their favorite media program clips. Such votes alter the content presented in the live prefacing media program. Transmission of the live prefacing media program terminates when the affiliates broadcast of the next episode of the series begins, thus encouraging or “throwing” viewers to view that episode.

Abstract: Multiple camera angles of an interactive event are simultaneously transmitted as part of a broadcast. The simultaneous distribution of multiple synchronized streams of audio and/or visual information enables switching between cameras to be made by the audience members without interruption of the presentation of the event. In one embodiment, a performance studio might send out multiple synchronized concurrent streams. For example, a performance studio might transmit four distinct camera angles or streams, each at varying quality levels, such as the illustrated high-bandwidth and low-bandwidth encodings. Selection of the stream may also direct interactive feedback portions generated by the selecting audience member towards the selected object/individual. Alternatively, interactive feedback generated by the audience member may be directed globally to the producers of the event and selectively to the performers and other audience members of the event.

Abstract: An antenna for broadcast television programming includes a tuner and demodulator located with the antenna to generate a demodulated television program stream. A network interface is connected to the tuner and demodulator to provide the television program stream to a network, preferably a wireless network. A television set located remotely from the antenna receives the television program stream via the network and displays the program. A portable control device may be connected to the network. Reception of the broadcast programming is improved by controlling the directionality of the antenna in response to the demodulated signal. A service provider may poll the wireless network antenna to determine which broadcast programs are received and may provide extended programming television programs to the user by an internet connection to the user's network.

At least one of the data or the auxiliary data is processed to identify a promotional opportunity available through the hand-held device. The user of the hand-held device is notified of availability of the promotional opportunity through the hand-held device.

The method enables an interaction to be established between the user and the call-to-action party regardless of whether the call-to-action party is the same entity as or a different entity to the broadcaster.
