  • Patent number: 10674552
Abstract: Using a method of operating a system that includes remote servers, multiple electronic devices, and a wireless portable, the portable wireless device receives notification of an incoming call. The system uses the remote servers and other parts of the system to determine that one of the electronic devices can wirelessly communicate with the portable wireless device, and establishes a wireless connection between the portable wireless device and that device. The system determines whether the user is also located with the portable wireless device and wirelessly connected device and if so, routes incoming call audio to that device. If the system determines that the user is located with a different device, incoming call audio is routed from the portable wireless device to the device near the portable wireless device, and then the call audio is bridged to the device near the user.

  • Patent number: 10652754
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques to facilitate a co-existence of overlapping spectrums within a base station node of a telecommunications network. More specifically, a spectrum sharing system is described that may employ static, semi-static, or dynamic techniques for spectrum re-framing of radio frames within a base station node. Spectrum re-framing may occur in a time domain, a frequency domain, or a combination of both. Further, the spectrum sharing system may determine the number of subframes of the first spectrum that are to be configured as MBSFN subframes based on the real-time network traffic and bandwidth allocation criteria. The bandwidth allocation criteria may include, but is not limited to, a regulatory requirement associated with a threshold bandwidth capacity for transmission of communications via a spectrum within the cell, or a service provider-imposed threshold bandwidth capacity on a cell that is intended to ensure a network efficiency of the base station node.

Abstract: For example, a captured image including an image to be processed is received. In the image to be processed, various items are separately displayed in a plurality of areas. Subsequently, a partition pattern that partitions the image to be processed, which is included in the received captured image, into a plurality of areas is extracted. An object to be processed is recognized by comparing the extracted partition pattern with one or more partition patterns prestored in a storage unit and then identifying a partition pattern corresponding to the partition pattern extracted from the image to be processed. This makes it possible to recognize an object to be processed under a relatively light processing load.

Abstract: Presence based content access control techniques are described in which presence of users is used as a basis for enforcing content restrictions. In an implementation, applications are registered to receive feedback regarding users' presence in relation to a presentation of content via a computing device. The presence of users is recognized independently of authentication of the users to access user accounts. For example, an imaging sensor such as camera may be employed for recognition of multiple users engaged with the computing device. In addition or alternatively, presence devices associated with users such as badges, key fobs, or access cards may be detected to ascertain the presence of users. Feedback indicative of the one or more users that are recognized may then be supplied to the registered applications. The feedback enables the applications to control the presentation of content by enforcing content restrictions and/or taking other presence based actions.

Abstract: A distributed storage system can maintain calculated load values of services throughout the system. The load values represent different types of load on the system. When a load value corresponding to a client changes, the load value is evaluated against thresholds to determine whether a different quality of service (QoS) policy is to be selected and implemented. If so, a function/formula indicated in the selected policy is used to calculate a scaling factor, which is then used to calculate a target performance value based on QoS parameters of the client. The system then manages access by the client according to the target performance value.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for automatically channelizing a stereo audio signal in a headphone device such that a correct audio channel is output to a user's ear regardless of which ear an earbud is inserted. In an embodiment, at least one earbud is configured with a sensor arranged on a housing of the earbud. The placement of the sensor can be keyed or otherwise positioned to identify a right or left ear based on proximity/contact with certain anatomy of the ear. For instance, the sensor can be in detectable range of ear anatomy such as a tragus/antitragus when inserted in one ear and outside of detectable range of the same when inserted in the other. By automatically detecting which ear an earbud has been inserted, audio channels can be switched as necessary enabling users to insert earbuds without regard for which is a right earbud and which is a left earbud.

Abstract: System, method and computer program product for determining a polling schedule for a remote control, are described. A multimedia device collects usage data that identifies when the multimedia device is in use. The probability that the multimedia device is in use for a particular time is determined based on the usage data. A polling schedule is generated based on the usage probability such that the periods in the polling schedule vary according to the usage probability to minimize energy consumption. The polling schedule is then transmitted to the remote control where the remote control polls the multimedia device according to the polling schedule.
