Having Road Condition Detection Patents (Class 73/114.12)
  • Patent number: 11585727
Abstract: A method for diagnosing the dynamics of a sensor in the fresh air or exhaust gas tract of internal combustion engines, as well as a computer program, a computer program product and a corresponding vehicle. It is provided that a corresponding sensor for measuring a pressure signal in the fresh air or exhaust gas tract of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, which is coupled with a control and computing unit, is checked with respect to its dynamic characteristics. Measured values of differing frequency ranges are measured, these being used as the basis for a calculation of a characteristic. After the calculation, the characteristic is compared with a threshold value stored in a user-defined manner in the control and computing unit. If the calculated characteristic deviates from the threshold value, at least one triggering signal is triggered, so that an impaired sensor dynamic of the sensor is displayed.

  • Patent number: 10145759
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a combustion oscillation estimating apparatus which estimates combustion oscillation in a combustion chamber connected with a burner so that a flame is injected by the burner, the combustion oscillation estimating apparatus including an input unit which receives data including an inlet pressure of the burner, and a control unit which detects a pressure in the combustion chamber based on a shape from the burner to the combustion chamber, a temperature distribution in the combustion chamber, and a shape of the flame. The combustion oscillation estimating apparatus may improve estimation accuracy of the combustion oscillation in the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 8060275
Abstract: An on-board diagnostic system of a vehicle comprises disabling diagnostic operation, such as a misfire monitor, based on road roughness. In one example, the disabling of the diagnostic operation is based on brake actuation and degradation of an anti-lock braking system.

  • Patent number: 7950273
Abstract: An engine misfire system comprises a rough road detection module and a misfire detection module. The rough road detection module selectively generates a rough road indicator based upon a transmission output speed of a vehicle. The misfire detection module selectively diagnoses engine misfire and selectively generates a misfire indicator based on diagnosed engine misfire and the rough road indicator.

  • Patent number: 7751961
Abstract: A method for classifying a road surface condition by estimating the maximum tire/road surface coefficient of friction and actively inducing acceleration or deceleration. In one embodiment, the induced acceleration/deceleration is provided by applying torque to the driven wheels of the vehicle. The speeds of the driven and non-driven wheels are measured. The tire/road surface coefficient of friction and the driven wheel slip ratio are calculated from the wheel speeds. The tire/road surface coefficient of friction and the wheel slip ratio are used to determine the slope of the wheel slip/coefficient of friction curve, which is used to classify the road surface condition.

  • Patent number: 7739019
Abstract: A rough road detection system for a vehicle comprises a first acceleration sensor that measures vertical acceleration of a component of the vehicle. An adaptive acceleration limits module determines a first acceleration limit based upon a speed of the vehicle. A limit comparison module generates a rough road signal based on a comparison of the first acceleration limit from the adaptive acceleration limits module and the measured acceleration from the first acceleration sensor.

  • Patent number: 7712357
Abstract: A method of operating an engine includes determining at least one characteristic of rough road performance based on at least one driveline characteristic and receiving crankshaft acceleration data. The method further includes comparing the received crankshaft acceleration data and determined characteristic, inhibiting the misfire counter based on the comparison, and operating the engine based on the disabled misfire detection.

  • Patent number: 7607345
Abstract: In an internal combustion engine including a flywheel damper, an operation range in which misfire detection is affected by the flywheel damper is set in advance. Whether or not an operation state of the internal combustion engine is within an operation range affected by the flywheel damper is determined. When the operation state is within the operation range affected by the flywheel damper, for example a cylinder specifying process specifying a misfiring cylinder is stopped. By such processing, erroneous detection attributed to irregular rotation fluctuation behavior caused by the flywheel damper can be avoided, and misfire detection performance can be improved.
