Bathometer Type Patents (Class 73/300)
  • Patent number: 4091676
Abstract: A water sample collecting device for obtaining a sample of water at a predetermined depth consisting of a tubular member with spherical valves at both ends and means for maintaining the valves in a closed position when launched, opening the valves after the device is descending in the water to permit flushing of the device until the device has reached the desired depth when a messenger causes the valves to rotate to the closed position at which time the device containing the sample of water is brought to the surface.

  • Patent number: 4077257
Abstract: A depth gauge from which lesser depths can be read off accurately on a scale which is expanded in the lower range. The expanded scale is achieved in that the component exposed to the pressure of the water is composed of at least two subcomponents, such as diaphragms or Bourdon tubes, which are subjected in succession to the effect of the water pressure.

  • Patent number: 4052899
Abstract: A depthometer having an outer waterproof casing provided with a transparent wall through which a graduated dial is visible, an indicator element movable along said dial, and an actuating element for said indicator, this actuating element being responsive to external pressure and consisting in an elastically deformable end wall of a cup-shaped member forming part of said outer casing, and a lateral wall of said cup-shaped member being stiffened to be indeformable with said end wall.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThis invention relates to a depthometer for underwater immersion.

  • Patent number: 4050314
Abstract: A pressure gauge having a cup-shaped case closed by a transparent cover, through which a graduated scale and a pointer movable therealong are visible, the cover being mounted rotatably on the case in an axial fixed position with respect thereto.

  • Patent number: 4037477
Abstract: A water sampler device having a cylindrical container open at each end with a ball valve mounted at the openings adapted to rotate about their axis from an initially closed position when the device is launched into a body of water to prevent the contamination of the container by the surface waters. Upon descending, a water pressure operated valve opens to equalize the pressure inside the container with that of the outside water pressure and causes the simultaneous rotation of the valves to an open position to permit water to flush through the device until it reaches the predetermined depth at which the sample is to be obtained when the valves are rotated again to a closed position. As the sampler device is being brought up to the surface, a further pressure operated valve permits the bleeding of water from within the device to equalize the pressure within the device with that of the surrounding area.

  • Patent number: 3990306
Abstract: A scuba diving oil filled depth gauge has a rigid or semi-rigid case that houses operative depth gauge elements. Outside pressure is communicated to the inside oil through a rolling diaphragm made of thin and highly flexible rubber-like material. The expansion and contraction of the oil due to thermal and other effects produces compensation at the rolling diaphragm without the imposition of stresses whereby a true communication of external to internal pressure is accomplished for accurate reading of the gauge.
