  • Patent number: 6588272
Abstract: A redundant level measuring system comprises a chamber for fluidic coupling to a process vessel whereby material level in the vessel equalizes with material level in the chamber. A float including a magnet in the chamber rises and falls with material level in the chamber. A magnet actuated visual indicator is mounted to the chamber for indicating level of the magnet in the chamber. A measurement instrument includes a probe and a measurement circuit. The instrument is mounted atop the chamber with the probe extending downwardly into the chamber. The measurement circuit measures a characteristic of the probe representing level of the material in the chamber. A shield in the chamber isolate the float from the probe.

  • Patent number: 5210658
Abstract: A sight glass assembly generally consisting of a first housing section having an opening therethrough mountable on a vessel wall, a second vessel section having an opening therethrough registrable with the first housing section opening when the first housing section is disposed in assembled relation with the second housing section, a pair of lenses disposed in the housing sections across the openings thereof, provided with beveled surfaces along the mating surfaces thereof, a packing member disposed between annular side walls of the lenses and the housing sections, and means for urging the housing sections together to compress the packing material and cause it to expand laterally to place the lenses in radial compression to maintain their structural integrity upon being fractured.

  • Patent number: 4919418
Abstract: Exercise equipment having a reciprocating extendible and retractible tension transmitting device is equipped with a control which restricts the extension to a constant velocity and impose a compulsory constant velocity retraction. The control may be hydraulic or electrical and may be a linear actuator. Transducers, and/or a load cell connected to the apparatus produce signals representing the performance of the user. These signals are processed by a control computer which produces control signals. The computer may also produce signals representing the user's previous performance for display and storage. The display may be an audiovisual display presenting animated graphics representing the user's present exercise performance as compared with the user's previous performance. The display also provides incentive, reinforcement, and motivation based upon the utilization of the comparative performance data. A sound generation system generates encouraging spoken remarks and provides background music.

  • Patent number: 4621527
Abstract: The invention provides a flat glass sight gauge which may have a length ranging up to 4 meters or more and in which a plurality of sight glasses (10) are aligned end to end to give the required length, the glasses being bolted to a frontal face of a structurally stiff metal backing plate (13), the fluid connections required between the aligned glasses (10) being formed at the rear of the backing plate (13), by rigid metal connector blocks (16) which serve also to give structural reinforcement to the backing plate (13) at the ends of the sight glasses (10). This proposal allows for efficient sealing of all the liquid passages of the gauge and for structural integrity of the gauge assembly, enabling it to withstand rough handling, vibration and severe changes of pressure and temperature.

  • Patent number: 4345468
Abstract: A liquid sight monitor including an internal sight tube surrounded by an external sight tube, the ends therebetween being spaced apart by inserts including "O" rings sealing against both tubes. The internal annulus between the tubes can be environmentally purged. A protective shield can be provided, which also provides mounting flanges for supporting the overall apparatus in position for metering the system.
