Mechanical Coupling To Indicator Patents (Class 73/861.88)
  • Patent number: 11115794
Abstract: A gas meter is outfit with near field communication (NFC) devices for in-situ exchange of data. The NFC devices reside in separate compartments. A first compartment houses electronics necessary to generate values for volumetric flow of material in a pipe. The gas meter includes a second compartment with an access point that allows data, including telemetry data, to transmit from the gas meter to a remote device. In operation, the NFC devices exchange data between the first compartment and the second compartment, often through a wall or barrier that prevents flow of fluid between the compartments.

  • Patent number: 7775422
Abstract: A meter for flowing material, e.g., water, has a meter register having an electronic display, e.g., an LED or LCD display, and a mechanical read-out display driven by a stepper motor to record units of water that flowed through the meter. In the event of an electrical power failure, the LED or LCD readout values are lost, however, the mechanical read-out values remain. Further, signals are transmitted to a microprocessor of a meter register to change the rotation of the stepper motor so that the meter register can be used with different types of meters. Still further, a meter generator co-acting with a meter register forwards an electrical pulse signal after a quantity of material or utility passes through a water meter to a microprocessor of a remote reader. The remote reader includes an odometer coupled to a stepper motor.

  • Patent number: 7257999
Abstract: A liquid dispenser comprises a sprayer device and volume meter connected together to form an integral unit that prevents the sprayer device and volume meter from being disconnected without damaging the dispenser. The volume meter has an inlet end portion and a gauge member downstream of the inlet end portion that responds to liquid flowing through the dispenser to provide a visual readout indicating the volume of liquid flowing through the dispenser. A common passageway extends through the sprayer device and volume meter through which liquid flows from the inlet end portion of the volume meter, past the gauge member, and exits the sprayer device at a head end thereof.

  • Patent number: 7171852
Abstract: A tracking assembly and method for tracking the operation of a rotary gas meter that has a driven member includes a connecting member, a gear assembly and a mechanical counter. The connecting member is adapted to be coupled to the driven member. The gear assembly is adapted to be coupled between the connecting member and the mechanical counter. The mechanical counter is used to count a value that is directly proportional to the number of rotations of the driven member when the connecting member is coupled to the driven member. The value provided by the mechanical counter is multiplied by a conversion factor such that the associated volume of gas displaced by the gas meter can be determined.

  • Patent number: 6881507
Abstract: The mass flow of hydrogen fuel in the anode loop of a hydrogen fuel cell is measured using a rotating flow meter. The flow meter includes a bladed rotor mounted for rotation within a tube disposed in the stream of hydrogen fuel flowing through the anode loop. A magnetic sensor senses changing magnetic field caused by the rotation of the rotor and produces an alternating signal having a frequency related to the rotational rate of the rotor, and thus of the mass flow rate of the hydrogen fuel. A fuel purity sensor increases the accuracy of the mass flow measurement by determining the concentration of foreign substances contained in the fuel.
