Publication number: 20150051600Abstract: A catheter arrangement including a catheter having a proximal end and a distal end and at least one continuous fluid channel, at the proximal end of which a fluid connection and at the distal end of which a nozzle is arranged, which has a cross section that can be varied by a force applied to the distal catheter end; a liquid feed unit, connected to the proximal fluid connection of the catheter feeds liquid into the at least one fluid channel at a predetermined operating pressure. A flow sensor measures, during operation of the catheter arrangement, a pressure drop at the fluid channel. A pressure evaluation unit, connected on the input side in a signal-based manner to the flow sensor, determines a force applied to the distal end of the catheter from the measured pressure drop at the fluid channel and from predetermined deformation characteristics of the associated nozzle.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2014Publication date: February 19, 2015Inventor: Andreas Bitzer

Patent number: 7617759Abstract: An apparatus for bidirectionally translating and positioning loads under tension includes a linear hydraulic actuator suspendible from a hoist such as a crane and is useable to support, raise and lower heavy loads in precisely controllable small incremental distances. The apparatus utilizes a strain-gauge type load cell positioned between an upper end of the actuator and an upper anchor connector eye suspendible from a crane. A digital display device operatively coupled to the load cell provides an accurate indication of static weight of a load supported by a load connector eye attached to a lower end of a piston rod protruding from the actuator, and accurate and immediate indications of any load weight deviation resulting from contact of a load with an obstruction while being raised or lowered. A pressure relief valve is provided to enable flow of hydraulic fluid from the actuator cylinder to a fluid reservoir to prevent inadvertent over-pressuring of the cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2007Date of Patent: November 17, 2009Assignee: Del Mar Avionics, Inc.Inventor: John A. Patent number: 7469605Abstract: The invention relates to a device and method for detecting a force on an injection moulding machine for processing plastic materials. According to said invention, a first element (100) interacting with a mechanical drive and movable at least indirectly thereby in a direction of movement (x) is displaced during said displacement with respect to a second element (200) positioned near the first element (100) or oppositely thereto. A force measuring device (D) is used for determining the force applied on the first (100) and/or second (200) element by the actuation of the injection moulding machine produced by the relative displacement thereof between the first (100) and second (200) elements.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2006Date of Patent: December 30, 2008Inventor: Karl Hehl

Patent number: 7044006Abstract: A seat weight measuring apparatus includes a base frame and a sensor portion which is mounted on the base frame and configured to detect a load applied to a vehicle seat. The sensor portion includes a sensor plate provided with a plurality of measuring gauges, and the sensor plate is supported by and fixed to a column disposed on the base frame. The seat weight measuring apparatus has a heat transmission route through which heat transmitted to the column is directly transmitted from the column to the sensor plate. Further, the seat weight measuring apparatus includes, between the sensor plate and the column, a heat transmission bypass through which heat transmitted to the column is transmitted to the sensor plate to bypass the heat transmission route.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2004Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: Takata CorporationInventors: Seiichi Kouyama, Tomotoshi Senoh

Patent number: 6627825Abstract: A hydraulic lifting and weighing system particularly for refuse collection vehicles and the like and includes means for dynamically weighing garbage. The system includes a hydraulic actuator operable to move a lifting arm and takes two measurements of the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the system as the arm raises a waste bin whose weight is to be measured. The weight of the bin is calculated by multiplying the pressure by a factor determined by calibration with known weights. Weights are calculated based on the measurements of pressure and the result averaged. The system compensates for variations in hydraulic flow characteristics. The system includes means for compensating for variations in the inclination of the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2001Date of Patent: September 30, 2003Assignee: TEK Solutions Pty LtdInventor: Richard Creswick

Patent number: 6504113Abstract: The scales include a tray (1) placed on a base (3) and lifted by an air cushion, with no mechanical connection with the base (3). The weight of an object (21) laid on the tray (1) varies the air cushion pressure, and the measurement of this pressure by an external sensor (19) is straightforward and gives the weight of the object (21) once a law of correlation has been determined. Lateral pipes enable gas to be blown against a flange (2) of the tray (1) and thus horizontal displacements of the tray and friction to be avoided. Several vertical pipes are generally provided so as to reduce tray (1) tipping after the object (21) has been thrown off centre, the weight being then given by the sum of the measurements of each vertical pipe.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2001Date of Patent: January 7, 2003Assignee: Compagnie Generale des Matieres NucleairesInventors: Paul Gallard, François Decool

Patent number: 6240789Abstract: A permanently instrumented actuated valve assembly includes at least one internally-gauged, permanently instrumented shaft functioning as a load bearing component through which an actuator drives a valve element. The shaft has a longitudinal (preferably axial), internal bore generally extending from the one end of the shaft to a point therewithin. A thrust monitoring instrument is mounted within the axial bore and monitors axial forces acting on the shaft to provide an indication of the performance of the valve assembly. Alternatively, one or more transverse bores extending from the internal bore to the external surface of the valve stem are provided with torsional force monitoring instruments being received within such transverse bore(s).Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1999Date of Patent: June 5, 2001Assignee: Crane Nuclear, Inc.Inventors: David E.
