Patent number: 11655880Abstract: A gear system for a rotary wing aircraft includes a first gear including an inner gear portion having a first pitch and an outer gear portion having a second pitch that is distinct from the first pitch. A second gear includes a third pitch driven at a driving rotational speed. An actuator member is coupled to the second gear while driven at the driving rotational speed. The actuator member shifts the second gear along the first gear to engage with one of the inner gear portion and the outer gear portion to drive the first gear at a first rotational speed and engage with other one of the inner gear portion and the outer gear portion to drive the first gear at a second rotational speed. A controller is operable to control the actuator member to shift the second gear between the inner gear portion and the outer gear portion.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2020Date of Patent: May 23, 2023Assignee: LOCKHEED MARTIN CORPORATIONInventor: Bruce D. Patent number: 9140333Abstract: A motor-driven concrete cutting saw and method in which the motor has an idler gear, a top slider gear slidably engageable and disengageable with the idler gear; and a bottom slider gear slidably engageable and disengageable with the idler gear. Both the top and bottom slider gears have two toothed disks, and the idler gear has two toothed disks, a main gap, and a third toothed disk. The toothed disks are sized to produce, when engaged with one another, multiple speeds including a neutral setting that would allow the motor to disengage from the saw blade while running.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2013Date of Patent: September 22, 2015Assignee: MERIT ENGINEERING & EQUIPMENT COMPANYInventors: Pablo Gomez, Juan Vielma, Greg Ferguson

Publication number: 20140116170Abstract: An in-line shift bevel gear forward/reverse mechanism comprises bevel gears, a locking device for forward drive and a stop means for reverse drive. The locking device includes a female spline mounted to a differential unit and a male spline mounted to a flanged hub which is slidably mounted on an input shaft of the mechanism and locks the input shaft to the differential unit for forward drive. The differential unit is automatically unlocked when linkage means actuates a stop means for the differential unit and stops the differential unit from rotating for reverse drive. The mechanism also provides a neutral.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 1, 2012Publication date: May 1, 2014Inventor: Anthony W. Fini, JR.

Patent number: 6155127Abstract: A chainless drive mechanism for transferring power from the pedals to the rear wheel of a bicycle. The chainless drive mechanism has a pedal-driven drive mechanism, a rear drive mechanism for rotating the rear wheel of a bicycle, and a drive shaft being extended between the drive mechanisms. Each of the drive mechanisms has an annular inboard casing, an annular outboard casing, an annular gear wheel and a bevel gear. The annular outboard casings are coupled to the inboard casings. The annular gear wheels are rotatably positioned between the inboard and outboard casings and have a plurality of concentrically geared rings on a side thereof facing the rearward inboard casing. The bevel gears are rotatably disposed between the rearward gear wheels and the rearward inboard casings. The bevel gears engage the geared rings of the gear wheels. The bevel gears engage toothed ends of the drive shaft.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1999Date of Patent: December 5, 2000Inventor: Daniel D. Pogson

Patent number: 4957019Abstract: In a press machine provided with a power transmission device (1) for transmitting the driving force of the press body to a transfer feeder device, on the occasion of the recoupling of the power transmission device (1) at the exchange of a mold or the like, a motor (8) for rotating the shaft of the power transmission device (1) is driven in the forward or reverse direction so that the feeder angle (F) coincides with the crank angle (P) of the press. At the moment when the difference (P-F) between said angles enters within a predetermined range (A), the power transmission device (1) is coupled. Thus, it is possible to automatically couple the power transmission device simply and with high accuracy.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1988Date of Patent: September 18, 1990Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Komatsu SeisakushoInventor: Kazuo Kubo

Patent number: 4323221Abstract: An actuator for a valve, said valve including a cylindrical valve body having a valve member disposed therein with a first gear attached to said valve member. A second gear is provided for drivingly engaging said first gear to operate said valve member. A support member is adapted to be attached to the valve body, and a first frame is rotatingly connected to the support member so that the valve body may rotate relative to said first frame. A hydraulic cylinder is connected between said first frame and a second frame. The second gear is rotatingly mounted upon the second frame. The hydraulic cylinder selectively moves said second gear into and out of engagement with said first gear. A locking apparatus is provided for selectively locking the first frame to the support member means to prevent the first frame from rotating relative to the valve body when the locking apparatus is in the locked position.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1980Date of Patent: April 6, 1982Inventors: Hubert D. Krober, Thomas Kelly

Patent number: 4316596Abstract: A power actuated kelly valve includes a cylindrical valve body having a valve member disposed therein with a first gear attached to said valve member. A second gear is provided for drivingly engaging said first gear to operate said valve member. A support member is attached to the valve body, and a first frame is rotatingly connected to the support member so that the valve body may rotate relative to the first frame. A moving apparatus is connected between the first frame and a second frame. The moving apparatus provides apparatus for selectively moving the second gear into and out of engagement with the first gear. A locking device is provided for selectively locking the first frame to the support member to prevent the first frame from rotating relative to the valve body when the locking device is in the locked position.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 1979Date of Patent: February 23, 1982Inventors: Hubert D.
