  • Patent number: 4495827
Abstract: In this window winder, at the end of the travel, the active face (7) of the abutment (6) of the driven toothed sector (4) is substantially perpendicular to the direction of the force (F.sub.1) of the meshed teeth. This produces in the engaged part of the toothed sector a radial force (R.sub.2) which urges it against the drive pinion (10). This avoids a deformation of the toothed sector in the event of an excessive force being exerted on this pinion.

  • Patent number: 4462269
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a flywheel for use with an automotive engine or the like. The flywheel of the present invention is basically a one-piece structure comprised of a disc portion and an integrally formed ring portion having gear teeth on its outer circumference. These gear teeth engage the pinion gear on the engine's starting motor and have appropriately positioned reinforcement thereon. This new construction does away with the need for attaching a ring gear to a separate stamped metal disc to form the flywheel, and also offers several manufacturing, performance, weight, and cost advantages.

  • Patent number: 4420962
Abstract: A method of forging an arcuate shaped toothed segment which is adapted to be bolted to an endless track wheel for an endless track vehicle. The method includes the simultaneous finishing without the necessity of machining of various surfaces of the toothed segment, and which surfaces are arranged at right angles to one another. The method includes inserting a rough blank so that the surfaces to be finished are held in a two-piece die and at an inclined angle in respect to the direction of die movement. As a result, all of the surfaces of the segment are simultaneously and completely finished so as to need no further machining.

Abstract: A technique for correcting backlash in gears utilized in printing machines. The backlash is corrected by means of toothed segments, i.e. sections of a gear, with each segment having gear teeth of varying width, with the teeth at the center of the segment having greatest width and the width of successive teeth decreasing by 0.005 to 0.6 mm to minimum values at both ends of the segment. Each segment is positioned so that the gear teeth of proper diameter to reduce backlash are disposed next to the teeth of the gear on which the segment is mounted.

Abstract: An improved motor grader circle mounting and circle assembly has a mounting in which an annular upright wall with an outwardly extending integral top flange and a removable bottom flange form an outwardly open annular cavity. A circle structure of welded arcuate segments is rotatably mounted between the flanges and cooperates with the wall and flanges to form a close annular lubricant chamber, and a segmental internal ring gear is on the circle structure in the cavity. Renewable segmental lower and upper bearing plates are located between bearing surfaces of the circle mounting and the circle; and a lower oil sealing ring is so located as to permit removal of the bottom flange and lowering of the circle structure to replace all the bearing plates and a segmented upper oil seal without draining the lubricant chamber.
