Patent number: 5116180Abstract: In a human-in-the-loop robotic control loop, the constrained forces and moments at the gripper (also called hand or end effector) of the manipulator are measured by a force-mement sensor. The resulting force and moment signals are scaled and fed as input voltages to motors in a hand controller to provide torques which oppose deflection of the hand controller. Thus, the operator feels the opposing torques which are proportional to the magnitude of the constrained forces and moments. The force feedback loop may be opened to selectively provide a passive control loop. In either the active or passive mode, the hand controller position signals may be selectively mapped to either gripper position signals or gripper velocity signals in order to control movement of the gripper in the desired manner.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1990Date of Patent: May 26, 1992Assignee: Spar Aerospace LimitedInventors: Patrick T. Patent number: 4864885Abstract: A speed control device is provided for operating a bicycle derailleur via a control wire. The device includes a fixing member, an operating member supported rotatably relative to the fixing member and including a plurality of engaging portions and a passive portion, and an operating lever supported rotatably relative to the fixing member and including a transmitting portion engageable with the passive portion of the operating member to transmit an operating force supplied to the operating lever to the operating member. The operating member has one end of the control wire secured thereto. A lever spring biases the operating lever in a predetermined rotation direction, and a retaining pawl is pivoted to the fixing member and is selectively engageable with the engaging portions of the operating member. A pawl spring biases the retaining pawl in a direction of engagement with the engaging portions.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1988Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Assignee: Shimano Industrial Company LimitedInventor: Masashi Nagano

Patent number: 4865277Abstract: An aircraft flight control stick is mounted on a gimbal which provides left, right, forward and aft pivotal motion of the stick. A pivot member that is mechanically linked to the aircraft flight controls is attached to the gimbal through a uni-ball bearing which allows the pivot member to pivot independently of the control stick. A bell-shaped housing is slidably mounted on the control stick. The housing is spring-biased downward toward the pivot member so that a stud protruding upward from the pivot member plugs into a socket in the housing. A lever assembly mounted on the control stick and attached to the housing can be actuated to slide the housing away from the pivot member, thereby unplugging the stud from the socket to disengage the control stick from the aircraft flight controls. The downward facing housing circumscribes all possible motion of the stud while the control stick is disengaged. Release of the lever assembly allows a spring to urge the housing downward toward the stud.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1987Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Assignee: Bell Helicopter Textron Inc.Inventors: Andrew Smith, Frank Wolstencroft

Patent number: 4856363Abstract: A parking brake assembly is provided including a sleeve or torque tube for locking or releasing a parking brake. The assembly includes a mounting bracket, an axle extending through the bracket, and a U-shaped handle assembly secured to the ends of the axle. A ratchet is secured to the mounting bracket. A pawl is pivotably mounted adjacent to the ratchet. The pawl is connected to the torque tube by a connecting rod. A spring urges the torque tube in a first direction, thereby causing the pawl to engage the ratchet. Rotation of the torque tube in the opposite direction causes the pawl to pivot away form the ratchet, thereby allowing the operator to release the brake.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1988Date of Patent: August 15, 1989Assignee: Wickes Manufacturing CompanyInventors: William J. Patent number: 4850568Abstract: A lever connecting mechanism for a horizontal hydraulic jack with tension rod comprises a vertical pumping rod having a traversed U-shape connecting member fixed thereon for receiving a bar provided on a foot pedal which is pivotally connected to the structure of the hydraulic jack, and a lever member pivotally connected to the structure of the hydraulic jack. The lever member has the same axis of rotation as the one of the foot pedal so that said lever member can be used to drive said foot pedal toward a downward direction. Since the foot pedal and the lever member are individually supported by two springs at their upmost position, the foot pedal can be depressed without affecting the lever member, but however, the downward movement of lever member will cause the foot pedal being depressed also.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1988Date of Patent: July 25, 1989Inventor: Michael Hung

Patent number: RE34007Abstract: The device permits the control of a derailleur by means of a lever (9) with the use of indexation means which ensure a precise positioning of the lever in the various positions corresponding to the various gear ratios. It also permits the adjustment of the indexation pitch, so as to adapt it to freewheels having a different spacings or pitches between different sprocket pinions. For this purpose, positioning elements (19) may be shifted by a pitch selection element (21) so that the pitch between the various positions of the lever is modified.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1990Date of Patent: July 28, 1992Assignee: Sachs Industries S.A.
