Flexible Strip Patents (Class 74/568FS)
  • Patent number: 4932274
Abstract: An improved characterizing linkage assembly of the type utilized to proportion the flow of fluids in response to motor controls, such as in the control of fuel and air mixtures in industrial combustion systems. The linkage system comprises a cam assembly having an adjustable curvilinear cam band, which is rotatable by a drive shaft. A biased follower rod, bearingly supported for reciprocal movement, is urged against the cam band. Movement of the follower rod pivots a linkage actuator arm which is bearingly supported on the drive shaft. Rotation of the drive shaft in response to a change in a selected process parameter imparts movement to the cam band, the follower rod and thus the linkage actuator arm being the proportional travel.

  • Patent number: 4731147
Abstract: A machine for labeling containers around their complete circumference. The machine has a driven rotating turntable with rotating plates that are positioned around its circumference. The plates accommodate the containers and, as they travel past a labeling station, are rotated at different individual speeds by means of a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism includes roller cams and a recessed cam in order to adapt to the cross-sections of the different containers. In order to provide a machine for labeling containers around their complete circumference in which the specific speed of the rotating plates can be considerably more rapidly and easily adapted to the cross-section of the containers being labeled, one section of the recessed cam consists of cam elements that are positioned at intervals, that are designed to yield, and that are adjustably supported.

  • Patent number: 4635898
Abstract: The improved positive pullback synchro valve actuator of the present invention comprises a universal cam assembly having a frame supporting a deformable cam strip which is operatively connected to a plurality of contour adjustment screws and which may be adjusted to form the desired shape of the cam. The cam strip is further operatively connected to a plunger which is disposed for movement transversely of the cam strip and in the longitudinal direction. The apparatus is positive in its pullback, as the plunger is linked to the universal cam assembly, such that when the operator turns the universal cam assembly, there is assurance that the associated valve is closed. In some applications, the plunger may be connected to a shaft yoke which is disposed transversely of the plunger for converting the longitudinal movement into limited reciprocal rotational movement. In these embodiments, the shaft yoke engages a valve shaft which is urged by such yoke into limited reciprocal rotational movement.

  • Patent number: 4538587
Abstract: A device for dressing a regulating wheel in a centerless grinding machine is adjustable for adapting the shape of the envelope surface of the regulating wheel to work pieces of different diameters. For this purpose, the dressing point (3) is arranged in a support (4) which co-operates with a follower (12) which is movable along a forming bar (9). The surface (11) on the forming bar which contacts the follower can be given a variable curve by the fact that the forming bar is provided with means (16, 20) for achieving elastic deformation of the forming bar in a plane coinciding with the path of the follower (12).

  • Patent number: 4457268
Abstract: A device (10) to control the position of a valve (12) in relation to the position of a unidirectionally rotating member (22) includes the use of a valve drive wheel assembly (24) which is movable in a reciprocating rotational manner, a flexible arm assembly (23), and a flexible rod assembly (25). The flexible arm assembly (23) is in operative association with the unidirectionally rotating member (22) and the valve drive wheel assembly (24) for driving the valve drive wheel assembly (24) in rotational reciprocation as the unidirectionally rotating member (22) rotates. Flexible rod assembly (25) linearly reciprocates the valve (12).

  • Patent number: 4295015
Abstract: A time switch comprises a scale plate which is rotated at a constant velocity and change-over pawls and a cradle. In the time switch the change-over pawls respectively have each flexible thin body part and are projected outwardly from an annular part and the switch is controlled by deformation of the change-over pawls which can be shifted to two positions for interlocking to or detaching from a lever.

  • Patent number: 4283607
Abstract: A cam operated control mechanism wherein a cam follower is caused to move from a first position to a second position by a biasing spring upon completion of a preselected amount of relative movement between the cam follower and cooperating cam. The control mechanism includes a second structure for effecting movement of the cam follower from the first position to the second position in the event the biasing spring fails to effect the movement, such as by virtue of the spring being broken. The structure for effecting the transfer includes a displaceable wall portion of the cam against which the cam follower is urged by means other than the spring means when the relative movement between the cam follower and cam is continued following the failure of the spring means to effect the desired transfer.

  • Patent number: 3960327
Abstract: A pattern control or programming device for a lawn sprinkler having a nozzle-equipped body rotating or oscillating on a generally vertical axis and having a movable guide element for controlling the elevation of discharge of water from the nozzle. A cam having a variable cam surface contour is engaged by a cam follower which imparts movement to the guide element to vary the elevation of water discharge from the nozzle at desired positions of the nozzle during rotary or oscillatory movements of the sprinkler body. A cam mounting structure operates to hold the cam in desired set contours of the cam surface.
