    Abstract: The containment-reinforced flywheel is a simple device designed to increase a flywheels energy storage capability by placing as much mass as possible at the outer portion of the radius (rotor). The flywheel of the present invention comprises a rotor which may be either solid or hollow, and which is drawn to the hub by the tensioning straps of the containment portion of the device. In a preferred embodiment, the flywheel rotor is a hollow circular tube constructed of steel, titanium, or other metallic material; composite materials; rubber; or other materials suitable to withstand the loads and stresses of the intended use of the flywheel, but light enough to not add unnecessary weight to the combination. The interior of the flywheel rotor preferably is filled with a non-corrosive liquid such as water. The “fill ratio”, that is, the ratio of the fluid mass to the structural mass, determines the performance of the flywheel.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for efficiently removing a belt from a drive assembly of an agricultural implement in which a flywheel and a header framework cooperatively define a gap therebetween which is smaller than a cross-sectional dimension of the belt and thereby prevent the belt from being simply passed through the gap and removed from the remaining components of the drive assembly. A radially inwardly extending notch in the periphery of the flywheel is configured and dimensioned to allow a portion of the belt to be received within the notch. This prevents the symmetrical bending that occurs with an even number of spokes, and divides the vibration mode in the peripheral direction. It is preferable that the number of spokes be seven. The flywheel (1) is mounted such that, when the pistons of predetermined cylinders #5 and #6 are at top dead center at the start of the expansion stroke, one of the spokes (5a) is positioned on the opposing side to these predetermined cylinders, which border the center of the crank (C).

    Abstract: A clip engages a pair of legs of a vibration attenuator to reduce the local separation of the legs, thereby increasing the force of friction pads, affixed to the legs, against a brake disk to compensate for reduced thickness of the friction pads due to wear. The clip has a second end region with a protrusion which can be engaged with the other leg so as to restrain it at the reduced separation. Preferably, a second protrusion is provided to allow restraining the other leg at an even smaller local separation from the leg that is rotatably engaged by the first end region. A tab preferably extends beyond the first protrusion to aid in engaging and disengaging the second end region from the other leg.
