    Abstract: The present invention relates to a programmer control device.This device comprises a rotary cam block 5 intended to be driven step by step by an advancing device comprising three advancing pawls 21, 22, 23 mounted on an oscillating support. The first pawl 21 can directly actuate step by step the first toothed ring 31 integral with the first part 1 of the cam block 5. The second pawl 22 interacts under the action of an elastic means with the smooth periphery 25 of a cylindrical extension 26 forming part of the second part 2 of the cam block 5. It likewise interacts, via orifices 30 passing completely through this extension 26, with a second toothed ring 32 integral with the first part 1. The third pawl 23 interacts under the action of an elastic means with a third toothed ring 33 integral with the inner periphery of a rate reduction collar 3 mounted rotatably inside the second part 2 of the cam block 5.

    Abstract: A powered ratchet wrench for turning threaded members, such as nuts or bolt heads, consists of a wrench assembly having a reaction arm adapted to be positioned over a threaded member, viz. nut or bolt, for supporting the same and operating a socket wrench through a ratchet mechanism applying a torque for tightening or loosening the nuts or bolts. The wrench assembly has a box shaped housing with an open end portion supporting a ratchet mechanism and a double-acting fluid operated cylinder having an operating piston extending therefrom for operating the ratchet mechanism. The ratchet mechanism consists of a ratchet wheel supported between two plates on bearing sleeves extending from side to side at the open end portion of the housing. A pair of pawls with driving teeth engage opposite sides of the ratchet wheel and are spring biased toward engagement with the ratchet teeth. The pawls are pivotally supported on each other and on the ratchet wheel supporting plates.

    Abstract: A foot-powered wheeled vehicle provides a frame having a platform normally occupied by a user. A pair of spaced apart front and rear trucks each supports a pinion geared shaft and a pair of wheels affixed to opposite ends of the shaft and rotatably with respect to the platform. A pair of independently actuable front and rear foot pedals hingedly are connected to the frame, each of the pedals being movable as desired by the operator between upper relaxed and lower depressed positions with each of the pedals being capable of imparting rotational energy to the wheels associated with its truck. Return springs are associated with each of the pedals for independently biasing each of the pedals toward the upper position which is overcome only by depression by the foot of the operator. Each pedal provides a curved toothed gear rack which is connected at its uppermost end portion to the pedal and which drivingly engages the pinion gear portion of the shaft responsive to depression of the pedal.

    Abstract: The place shift-up mechanism of a digital clock comprises ratchet feed mechanism which permits manual setting of the clock even during the shift-up operation. The ratchet feed mechanism comprises an eccentric cam secured to a rotary shaft which also carries an eccentric operation pin. A ratchet wheel is rotatably supported by the shaft. A place shift-up lever is supported so as to be capable of rocking and sliding movement and has a forked leg plate with spaced legs receiving the eccentric cam between them. One leg of the forked leg plate has a feed pawl for engagement with the ratchet wheel and also a hook pawl engageable by the operation pin to move the place shift-up lever in one direction. The other leg of the forked leg plate has a return pawl which is engageable by the operation pin to move the plate shift-up lever in an opposite direction.

    Abstract: A drum brake which comprises two brake shoes, an actuator situated between two first adjacent ends of the shoes and a fixed fulcrum block situated between the other two ends of the shoes. An adjuster is designed to increase the distance between the first ends of the shoes automatically as a function of the wear on the lining of the shoes. The adjuster comprises a lever pivoted at one end on a first of the shoes in the vicinity of the actuator. A pawl is pivoted on the first shoe and biased by a resilient member into engagement with a toothed sector formed on the other end of the lever. An operating member is responsive to an increase in the distance between the first ends of the shoes, so as to pivot the lever in the direction corresponding to adjustment of the brake. The resilient member comprises a spring of which at least part cooperates with the surface of the lever remote from the first shoe irrespective of the position of the adjuster.

A position control cam and an integral supplementary cam are rotatably supported on the base between the two pawls. The operation member is spring biased in a direction to move the first pawl toward the position control cam. The position control cam is provided alternately with deep concaves and shallow concaves. When the first pawl of the operation member engages in a deep concave it is in one position. When it engages a shallow concave it is in a second position. The supplementary cam has teeth at positions corresponding to the concaves of the position control cam.

The pawls in each pair are coupled to each other and are used to rotate the ratchet clockwise and counterclockwise. The means for pressing the pawls to the ratchet is made in the form of air power cylinders with pistons contacting the pawls.

    Abstract: A parking brake mechanism for a motorcycle having a rear brake pedal which is to be depressed for applying a brake on a rear road wheel. An annular ratchet wheel is rigidly connected to the pivoted end of the rear brake pedal for simultaneous rotation therewith, and one or more pawls pivotally mounted within the ratchet wheel are spring biased into engagement with teeth formed on its inside surface. Normally, the pawls are held out of engagement with the ratchet teeth by a rotary cam ring. Upon angular displacement of this cam ring relative to the pawls, the ratchet mechanism functions to permit the rear brake pedal to be depressed but to prevent its return motion. The cam ring can be actuated either by a retractable footrest or by a hand lever on the steering handle of the motorcycle.

    Abstract: The present invention is related to an improvement in a double-acting ratchet and pawl for controlling the operation of a hand winch. The pawl is pivotally mounted and engageable in two different positions with a driving gear which in turn is engaged with a driven gear operably connected to a winch reel. The improvement of this invention is primarily related to the pawl design and mounting and operation means therefor. With the design of the present invention, the pawl may be pivoted into any one of three principal locations corresponding to forward winch drive, reverse winch drive, and free-running winch drive. A latch plate holds the pawl fixedly in the desired position. A handle is provided for operating the pawl and a spring compressed against the handle operably holds the pawl against the latch plate. The pawl and the handle are pivotally connected on a shaft and mounted pivotally with respect to one another. A coiled spring connects the handle to the pawl for moving the pawl when the handle is operated.
