  • Patent number: 5937986
Abstract: The friction clutch, for a motor vehicle, includes a friction disc, a pressure plate (201), a cover plate (202) fixed on the reaction plate, and an axially acting spring (203) working between the cover plate (202) and the pressure plate (201), the pressure plate (201) being fixed to the cover plate (202) for rotation with the latter while being displaceable axially with respect to it, the clutch further including a wear compensating device comprising ramps (211) disposed circumferentially and adapted to be driven in rotation by a set of teeth (218) which they carry at the periphery, and with which a worm (213) cooperates; for driving the worm (213) in rotation, there is provided a ratchet wheel (220) fixed to the worm (213) for rotation with the latter, the worm (213) and the ratchet wheel (220) being formed in one piece: the teeth (221) of the ratchet wheel (220) are formed at the outer periphery of the thread of the worm (213).

  • Patent number: 5897089
Abstract: A container holder adapted to be mounted within a vehicle interior compartment is provided comprising a housing which mounts at least one pivotable arm which defines a container-receiving area. The arm is pivotable by a user between a retracted and an extended position to vary the usable size of the container-receiving area. After a beverage container is placed within the housing, a user can pivot the arm into contact with an outer surface of the beverage container so that the beverage container is securely retained during operation of the vehicle. The beverage container is thereby retained in the housing in a stable manner. A release assembly is also provided which returns the arm to the retracted position when the beverage container is removed.

  • Patent number: 5572908
Abstract: A ratchet mechanism for telescope devices on toy vehicles comprises a manually drivable driving gearwheel rotatably positioned on a telescope base body, a rack on the telescopic arm, the rack engaging with the driving gearwheel, and a pawl of ratcheting engagement with a tooth gap of the driving gearwheel for the telescopic arm to be fixed in different positions of displacement on the telescopic base body. The pawl consists of elastically flexible plastics material so that on the one hand it ratchets over the teeth of the driving gearwheel upon actuation of the driving gearwheel for the extraction of the telescopic arm and that on the other hand it is elastically deformable upon actuation of the telescopic arm in the direction of retraction. The pawl then ratchets over the teeth of the driving gearwheel while releasing the telescopic arm in the latter's direction of retraction.

  • Patent number: 5540117
Abstract: A locking system for articulated fittings of car seats with a free-swivelling backrest. In particular, a wobble fitting is used with the articulated fitting and is made up of at least one notch, with which a pawl engages in a locking position, and a first clamping surface as the contact surface for an operating and safety element. The operating and safety element can be rotated around a swivel axis so as to increase the clamping force exerted on the pawl and is spring-loaded to secure the pawl in the locking position by using a second clamping surface, which rests without self-locking against the first clamping surface of the pawl. The operating and safety element includes a catch surface such that, when the pawl rests against the first clamping surface, it prevents the pawl from exerting an opening moment on the operating and safety element.

  • Patent number: 5499829
Abstract: A lockable drill chuck has a chuck body and an adjustment body rotatable on the chuck body relative to an axis and fixed axially thereon. Respective jaws in guides of one of the bodies have toothed edges meshing with a screwthread of the other body so that rotation of the adjustment body on the chuck body in a forward closing direction about the axis moves the jaws radially toward one another and opposite rotation in an opening direction moves the jaws radially apart. Radially inwardly directed sawteeth is provided on the adjustment body. An elastically deformable locking arm fixed on the chuck body has a free outer end and sawteeth offset from the free end and engageable with the adjustment-body teeth. The arm is radially deflectable between an outer meshed position with the locking-arm sawteeth meshing with the adjustment-body sawteeth and an inner out-of-mesh position.

  • Patent number: 5429012
Abstract: A speed change operation assembly is provided which requires only a small mounting space and is unlikely to interfere with a brake lever assembly and the like even if mounted near a grip portion of a handlebar. The speed change operation assembly (1) comprises an annular lever mount (5) fixedly fitted on a handlebar (2), and a generally C-shaped lever member (6) elastically fitted on the lever mount for pivotal operation about an axis of the handlebar. The lever mount is integrally formed, on its outer circumference, with a sheath stopper portion (11) for attachment to an end of an outer sheath (w2) of a speed control cable (W) which additionally includes an inner wire (w]) inserted in the outer sheath. On the other hand, the lever member is integrally formed, on its outer circumference, with a wire stopper portion (14) for attachment to an end of the inner wire extending beyond the end of the outer sheath as well as with operating arm portions (15a, 5b) for engagement with the fingers of a rider.

  • Patent number: 4856303
Abstract: A thrust spacer having resilient, upwardly angled tabs is provided to act as a variable spacer within a two-piece agitator, between an upper agitator portion and a lower agitator portion to prevent relative vertical movement between the two portions while permitting relative rotational movement therebetween. Each of the tabs is positioned adjacent to an opening larger than the tab to permit the tab to be compressed into the opening to provide a large degree of variability in the height of the tabs. The spacer also includes angled arms which engage with slots in the lower agitator portion to cause the spacer to rotate with the lower agitator portion.

  • Patent number: 4659138
Abstract: A device for fastening a motor vehicle window is detachably connected to the body frame of a motor vehicle. The device is composed of a holding plate attached to the body frame, and a supporting element connected to the holding plate. The lower edge of the window always rests on the supporting element with a relatively large contact area, thereby preventing stress induced breakage. Also included is a control element which adjusts the position of the supporting element relative to the holding plate, thereby allowing the window to be properly positioned along the window plane before fixing it to the body frame by an adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4582030
Abstract: A top mounting pull-rope recoil starter as might be employed on a vertical crankshaft small internal combustion engine for rotary lawnmower or similar applications. The pull-rope pulley connects to a ratchet wheel through a twist-lock coupling and the spring chamber formed within the ratchet wheel and pulley is sealed against dust by a rotating seal formed between the pulley and starter housing. The ratchet wheel is selectively engaged by engine flywheel supported pawls, which have integral leaf springs normally biasing them into engagement with the ratchet wheel. When the engine is running, however, the centrifugal force generated by the rotating flywheel on the pawls moves the pawls against the bias of the integral leaf springs out of engagement with the ratchet wheel. The blower housing and starter housing are coupled together by a twist lock arrangement, and securely fastened together by a fastener, such as a threaded screw or a rivet passing through the starter housing into the blower housing.
