Patent number: 12158042Abstract: A device and method for reaming a flight gap of a drill flight of a drilling tool includes a base carriage displaceably mounted along a mast of a drilling apparatus. A reaming element engages the flight gap so soil adhering to the rotating drilling tool is scraped off by the reaming element. A support arm holding the reaming element is movably mounted between a retracted position where the reaming element is spaced apart from the drilling tool and a reaming position where the reaming element engages the flight gap. The support arm pivots about a pivot axle parallel to a longitudinal drilling axis of the drilling tool. The support arm is additionally mounted on the base carriage parallel to the longitudinal drilling axis of the drilling tool to be deflectable from a basic position, and is resiliently held in the basic position by means of a bias spring.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2023Date of Patent: December 3, 2024Assignee: BAUER Maschinen GmbHInventors: Robert Dreier, Daniel Reil

Patent number: 7887032Abstract: Embodiments include a self-centering control rod device having two independently operating springs, a bushing, and a control rod. The two springs utilize preload compression to maintain the control rod centered. One spring operates directly against the control rod while the other operates against the bushing. Each spring may have different spring strength or established preload in order to balance out the application force required to control a particular object. Spring compression force adjustments on one spring do not affect the center point or the spring compression force adjustment of the other spring.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2008Date of Patent: February 15, 2011Assignee: Fallbrook Technologies Inc.Inventor: Curtis W Malone

Publication number: 20080115622Abstract: The invention relates to a threaded device (7) embodied in the form of an anti-twisting stop which is rotatably connected to a traction-pressure rod. The inventive device comprises two oppositely located ratchet devices which are connected by a body enabling to stop the traction-pressure rod in several rotational positions with a predetermined locking force and, afterwards, to release it each time. Said threaded device (7) facilitates the mounting of the traction-pressure rod by the fact that the twisting should not be locked by additional handling, thereby making it possible to carry out a fine adjustment without additional measures. The ratchet device (4) comprises, for example, two ratchet elements (10, 11) provided with one or several catch lugs (12) or a metal or plastic ring part on one side and a gear rim on the other side. In addition, said threaded device can be provided with a spring element and a second anti-noise threaded device.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 19, 2005Publication date: May 22, 2008Applicants: GMT-GUMMI-METAL-TECHNIK GMBH, TRIGUM ENGINEERING GMBHInventors: Albert Uhl, Francisco Gomez, Soeren Koch

Patent number: 5035307Abstract: An energy absorbing device, suitable for use in the leg structure of aircraft passenger seating for the purpose of attenuating crash forces, having first and second attachment fittings 11, 21 with a tube 10 of fiber reinforced plastics material extending between them. Tube 10 has a crush initiation band 17 at which buckling of the tube commences upon compressive overload. Long, tough fibers are used as the reinforcing material in the tube so that, when compression of the device has concluded, there is a residual tensile capability. Successful operation of the device is facilitated by providing attachment fitting 12 with a slider 15 which helps to maintain the collapsing portion of the tube in axial alignment with the uncollapsed portion. The slider also acts as a tube wall straightener to unbuckle the collapsed fibers when tensile load is applied.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1989Date of Patent: July 30, 1991Assignee: The Secretary of State for Defence in Her Britannic Majesty's Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Northern IrelandInventors: Majid M. Patent number: 4768762Abstract: The weight of a pivoted body is counterbalanced by a spring acting on a cam connected to that body to pivot therewith. A band, connected to that spring, attaches to the cam and wraps around the cam. The cam's profile is contoured to produce moment arms of various lengths, through which the force of the spring acts, balancing the variable torque of the weight of the pivoted body.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1987Date of Patent: September 6, 1988Inventor: Kurt O. Patent number: 4756204Abstract: A counterbalance assembly for use with a rotatable arm in a robotic manipulator, wherein such arm is rotated about a rotation axis. The assembly further includes one or more compression springs for providing resistance to compressive forces, and converting apparatus for translating the rotational movement of the rotatable arm about the rotation axis into linear deflection of such compression spring, whereby resistance of the compression spring to linear deflection in either direction along its longitudinal axis establishes an effective counterbalancing force which reduces the load bearing on the arm drive regardless of the direction in which the rotatable arm is rotated.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1987Date of Patent: July 12, 1988Assignee: Cincinnati Milacron Inc.Inventors: Christoph F. Patent number: 4673311Abstract: A concrete finishing machine having a rotatable trowel blade assembly and a mechanism for controllably adjusting the pitch of the trowel blades relative to a wet concrete surface on which the blades rest. Manual pivoting of a control lever controllably adjusts the trowel blade pitch and, in doing so, automatically increases or decreases the amount of blade surface contacting the concrete surface, and correspondingly lowers or raises the machine relative to the surface. The contacting blade surface supports the machine's entire weight. A special counterbalancing apparatus that includes, for example, a compressed coil spring, biases the control lever so as to compensate for the machine's weight and permits an operator to adjust the blade pitch with substantially less force than otherwise would be required.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1985Date of Patent: June 16, 1987Inventor: Marvin E. Whiteman, Jr.

Patent number: 4653975Abstract: A robot, including an arm assembly and an energy-storing balancing mechanism which is connected to the arm assembly at a pair of attachment points so that the arm assembly is substantially balanced within a quadrant of arm assembly motion on both sides of a neutral position of the arm assembly relative to the rest of the robot. The balancing mechanism includes a spring assembly having a longitudinal axis which extends towards and is substantially perpendicular to a pivotal axis about which the arm assembly pivots from its neutral position. The spring assembly is preferably connected by a pair of internally slotted links for slidably and pivotally connecting the spring assembly at the attachment points. Each attachment point is only effective (i.e. experiences the pulling force of the spring assembly) during a single quadrant of arm assembly motion.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1985Date of Patent: March 31, 1987Assignee: GMF Robotics CorporationInventor: Hadi A. Patent number: 4557228Abstract: The invention is an improved piston engine, either two stroke or four stroke. In one, two stroke, one cylinder embodiment, the improvement comprises two springs connecting between the piston and the base of the piston. These springs are relatively relaxed when the crank is at top dead center. Then during the power/intake stroke, some of the fuel's energy is delivered to the crankshaft and some is used to compress the springs. The stored energy in the springs is delivered to the crankshaft during the exhaust/compression stroke while the springs return to their relatively relaxed condition. As a result, energy is delivered to the crankshaft during both strokes of the cycle, and the engine runs smooth. In one, four stroke, two cylinder embodiment, each cylinder has springs as described above, the cranks of each cylinder are aligned, and the cam sets one cylinder in the power stroke while the other is in the intake stroke.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1983Date of Patent: December 10, 1985Inventor: Arthur J.
