Including Other Gas From Below Patents (Class 75/555)
  • Patent number: 8475561
Abstract: A method for producing molten iron by melting an iron source material using an iron bath-type melting furnace comprising a top-blowing lance at an upper part of the furnace, a bottom-blowing tuyere in the bottom of the furnace and a tap hole at a lower part on the side of the furnace, the method comprising: a melting process of melting the iron source material, wherein the melting process has at least one tapping process of discharging the molten iron and the slag through the tap hole while holding a position of the furnace in generating the molten iron, and the tapping process continues or interrupts generation of the molten iron and continues top-blowing of the oxygen-containing gas to thereby keep a temperature of the molten iron in the furnace at or above a pre-set lowest temperature of the molten iron.

  • Patent number: 5051127
Abstract: Process and apparatus for post combustion of reaction gases generated in a molten iron bath above the bath by means of at least one jet of oxidizing gases, whereby energy thereby produced is transferred to the bath and whereby the or each jet of oxidizing gases is injected with a swirl through one or more tuyeres towards the surface of the bath or the or each jet of oxidizing gases is injected in the form of a hollow jet through one or more tuyeres towards the surface of the bath.

  • Patent number: 5047081
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method which may decarburize high Cr molten metal for a short period of time under an atmospheric pressure, while checking loss of Cr by its oxidation. A basic feature of the invention is to blow from the furnace top lance a decarburizing O.sub.2 diluted by an inert gas into the high Cr molten metal supported in a container as well as blow the inert gas from bottom tuyeres so as to forcibly agitate the molten metal. Another feature of the invention is to control a slag amount during the above decarburizing blowing so as to check the Cr oxidation loss. A further object of the invention is to carry out a denitrification in the above decarburization, thereby to produce low N molten metal while checking the loss by Cr oxidation.

  • Patent number: 4990183
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing steel in a ladle furnace in which the molten steel is stirred by injection of an inert gas in the lower part of the furnace. According to the invention, the stirring of the bath of steel is effected by the injection of gaseous argon so as to distribute in a homogeneous manner the additives added and the metal temperature in the course of the treatment, while there is simultaneously injected liquid argon above the surface of the bath in the region of intumescence. In this way, substantially any increase in the concentration of nitrogen of the bath of steel in the course of the treatment is avoided. In some cases, and in particular when wires of the type filled with silico-calcium are employed, a reduction in the concentration of nitrogen in the bath of steel is found.
