Abstract: A method of forming a rotary cutting die includes the following steps. A curved cutting rule transfer plate including an inner surface and an outer surface is provided. A cutting rule channel is formed in the transfer plate, and defines a predetermined design. A cutting rule having a cutting edge and a support edge is placed in the cutting rule channel. The support edge of the cutting rule extends from the inner surface of the transfer plate. A translucent rotary die place is formed on the inner surface of the transfer plate. The support edge of the cutting rule extends into and is supported in the rotary die plate. The transfer plate is then removed from the rotary die plate.
Abstract: A flat plastic key suitable for replacing a corresponding metal key having a key alignment groove disposed in a side of the key is configured to actuate a rotary cylinder lock having a rectangular lock entrance slot. The plastic key includes a head, a shank and a bit. The shortened key alignment groove extends along the side of the key creating a decreased key thickness adjacent to the groove. The shortened groove terminates in the key shank at a groove termination point to define a groove length less than the corresponding groove length of the metal key to thereby increase the volume and strength of the plastic key shank relative to the volume and strength of an exact plastic duplicate of the metal key shank to increase the strength of the plastic key and its capacity to transfer the input torque to the sidewalls of the lock entrance slot.
Abstract: A device for protecting articles comprising a plate-shaped protective member connected directly to at least one sharp-pointed portion of the article to be protected by at least one frangible point so as to separate the protecting member from the article before using the latter.
Abstract: A forming tool made from resins and fillers for the cold forming of sheet metal and especially suitable for forming short runs of sheet metal parts with drop hammers, hydraulic presses or mechanical crank presses, the filler being a mixture of iron filled resin and an aggregate; the aggregate being a lightweight by-product of the steel making process.
Abstract: A method for making a punch and stripper assembly for a reciprocating metal-punching press in which the stripper is integrally molded about the punch while in the punch holder through the use of a certain plastics material mold cooperating with the punch holder, and a substantially liquid plastics material that can be poured in the mold and will set to a solid condition integral with the punch.
