    Abstract: A rear end portion of a leading TAC film and a front end portion of a following TAC film are connected using a double-sided adhesive tape and a single-sided adhesive tape. A laser welding device emits a welding laser beam along a welding line onto the films. Owing to the welding laser beam, the leading and following TAC films are welded along the welding line. The laser welding device emits a cutout laser beam along a cutout line onto the films. Owing to the cutout laser beam, a part of the leading and following TAC films surrounded by the cutout line is cut out. The cut out part has the single-sided adhesive tape attached. Since the tape cannot be recycled, the cut out part is absorbed by an absorbing device and disposed.

    Abstract: A process for treating a dyed, velvet fabric is disclosed wherein two-toned color effects between the pile and the fabric backing are achieved. The preferred fabric comprises a cellulosic (cotton or rayon) or synthetic fiber weave backing dyed preferably with a non-disperse dye, e.g. a direct dye, and pile composed of cellulose acetate fibers dyed with a disperse dye. The dyed fabric is contacted with a dilute caustic solution, e.g., sodium hydroxide, for a period of time sufficient to at least partially or totally hydrolyze the cellulose acetate of the pile fiber, which noticeably also reduces the color intensity of the pile while having little effect on the color intensity of the backing. This is followed by rinsing, neutralization and conditioning of the treated fabric.

    Abstract: There is provided a method of softening a nonwoven web by wetting a nonwoven web having a starting, unstretched width and a starting cup crush value, with an aqueous solution of softening chemicals, necking the saturated nonwoven web, drying the nonwoven web at a temperature and time sufficient to remove at least 95 percent of the moisture from the nonwoven web, wherein the web has a final cup crush value which is less than 50 percent of the starting cup crush value. The method may optionally include the step of un-necking the nonwoven web to about between 80 and 125 percent of its starting, unstretched width.

    Abstract: A surface modified continuous filament yarn and method for producing same is provided wherein a continuous filament twisted yarn is stretched and, while in its stretched or elongated state, contacted with an effective amount of a swelling agent for a period of time effectively to substantially rupture fibers on the surface of the elongated yarn without effecting interior fibers of the yarn, thereafter quenching the swelling agent and recovering a modified continuous filament yarn.
