Abstract: The present invention relates to a 2-step methods, and compositions for providing more vibrant, natural and long-lasting color to hair and at the same time reducing hair fiber damage associated with alternative current methods. In the first step the hair is contacted for a period of time with a dye precursor mixture containing specific oxidative hair dye precursors under conditions where these dyes are substantially inactive. Color is then developed in a second step by contacting the hair with a mixture of a peroxide compound and a persulfate salt. Surprisingly the 2-step method leads to considerable “lift” or lightening without negatively impacting the coloring ability of the oxidative dye. The invention also relates to kits providing the means to accomplish these steps.

Abstract: Hair can be dyed by applying an oxidizing-agent-free, air-oxidative, one-pack hair dye composition to the hair without mixing the hair dye composition with an oxidizing agent and, after the hair is left over for 5 minutes to 1 hour, rinsing off the hair dye composition with water. The hair dye composition comprises: (a) a water soluble salt of a transition metal: 0.001 to 10 wt. % in terms of an anhydride based on the whole composition, (b) a chelating agent capable of coordinating on said transition metal: 0.001 to 10 wt. % based the whole composition, and (c) a color-developing substance: 0.001 to 10 wt. % based on the whole composition. According to the present invention, hair can be dyed by a convenient procedure without damage. The present invention is also excellent in dyeing properties and color variations.

Abstract: Hair dyeing composition on the basis of an oxidation dyestuff precursor reacting with peroxide, comprising at least one developing and/or coupling substance selected from the group a) 3-chloro-p-aminophenol and/or 2-chloro-p-aminophenol, b) 2-methyl-5-aminophenol, 2-methyl-5-hydroxyethyl aminophenol, 2-methyl-5-?-hydroxypropyl aminophenol, 2-methyl-5-methyl aminophenol, 2-methyl-5-ethyl aminophenol, 2-methoxy-5-aminophenol, 2-methyl-4-methoxy-5-aminophenol and/or 2-methyl-4-methoxy-5-hydroxyethyl aminophenol and c) 1-methoxy-2,4-diaminobenzene, 1-?-hydroxyethyloxy-2,4-diaminobenzene, 1-(1,2-dihydroxypropyloxy)-2,4-diaminobenzene, 1-methoxy-2-amino-4-?-hydroxyethyl aminobenzene, 1,3-bis-(2,4-diaminophenoxy)-propane, 2,4-diamino-5-methyl-phenetol and/or 1-?-hydroxyethyloxy-5-methyl-2,4-diaminobenzene.
