  • Patent number: 4640691
Abstract: Vinylsulfonyl dyes, if padded from acidic liquors, produce on wool merely dyeings having a poor yield and only moderate fastness properties if the pad-beam method is used. It has been found according to the invention that padding from weakly alkaline liquor (pH 7-9) with sodium bicarbonate as fixing alkali and subsequent batching (6-24 hours) of the material produces good coloristic results especially on wools with a low-felting or non-felting finish.

Abstract: A process for improving the fastness properties of a sulphur dyestuff on a substrate comprising hydroxy group-containing fibres by applying to the dyed or printed substrate the reaction product (R) of(A) the product of reacting a mono- or polyfunctional primary or secondary amine with cyanamide, dicyanodiamide, guanidine or bi-guanidine; said product containing reactive hydrogen atoms bound to nitrogen, and(B) an N-methylol derivative of a urea, melamine, guanamine, triazinone, urone, carbamate or acid amidein the presence of (C) a catalyst for the crosslinking of N-methylol compounds of the type (B) above, and subsequently carrying out a heat-curing step. These compounds are useful for the aftertreatment of textile material.

  • Patent number: 4605418
Abstract: Wet and dry crocking are reduced on dyed textile cellulosic materials and their blends by aftertreatment with finish mixtures containing effective amounts of a reactive polyamine component and a blocked urethane prepolymer component. The polyamine component is a polyamide, epoxidized polyamide, chain-extended polyamide, epoxidized chain extended polyamide, epoxidized polyamine or epoxidized polyalkylenimine and the blocked urethane prepolymer component is a reaction product of excess polyisocyanate and hydroxy terminated polyether or hydroxy terminated polyester whose reactive isocyanate groups are blocked. Finish mixtures are applied to the dyed textile material, dried and cured to improve wet and dry crockfastness.

  • Patent number: 4548902
Abstract: Dyeings on cellulose with direct or reactive dyestuffs are given improved wet fastness properties by aftertreatment with a reaction product or mixture of a polybasic amino compound (A) with an N-methylol compound (B) or with formaldehyde or a formaldehyde donor and optionally a crosslinking catalyst (C). Particular direct or reactive dyestuffs and polybasic amino compounds are determined to be suitable in the dyeing and aftertreatment when the dyestuff and the polybasic amino compound (A) are such that when mixed together in aqueous solution they give a precipitate which, after washing and drying does not redissolve in aqueous alkali at pH.gtoreq.12 at room temperature.
