  • Publication number: 20040099101
Abstract: A wrench includes a handle section with a head section which has a fitting through hole configured for fitting onto the polygonal head of a bolt head member. The fitting through hole includes first and second coaxial polygonal fitting holes circumferentially displaced from each other. Each polygonal fitting hole has an inner circumference with a plurality of reentrant angles and sides. At least one channel is formed on the inner circumference of one of the first and second fitting holes. The at least one channel extends in a direction of an axis of the fitting through hole. A sliding member is movably disposed in the at least one channel so as to prevent the polygonal head from passing completely through the fitting through hole. When the other fitting hole engages the polygonal head, the polygonal head may pass completely through the fitting through hole.

Abstract: Wrench capable of preventing a screwed member from slipping out and holding the screwed member. One end of the wrench has a head section formed with a polygonal socket. Multiple teeth are formed on the circumference of the socket for engaging with the screwed member. An annular groove is formed in the head section and a resiliently stretchable retainer ring is disposed in the annular groove. • Patent number: 6374708
Abstract: A tool is provided for installing and removing winterizing plugs located in drains, pools, boats, and other systems for providing protection from moisture during the winter season. Such plugs have threaded stems, and are typically secured by wingnuts. These plugs are then removed during warmer weather. In operation, the set screw is loosened to permit removal of the t-bar from the barrel. The t-bar is then inserted into a second transverse bore to serve as a handle for applying torque to selectively tighten and loosen the wingnut and to facilitate pulling the wingnut. The slotted end of the barrel is then slipped over the wingnut. Then, the wingnut can be easily tightened. This technique is also used when removing the plugs. The end of the tool is applied to a threaded portion of a winterizing plug above a wingnut for removal of the plug. The threaded portion of the winterizing plug extends well above the wingnut. The threaded portion of the passage engages the threaded portion of the winterizing plug.

Abstract: Ends of several electrical wires are joined by a connector which is twisted onto the wire to a predefined torque level by using a unique tool socket. The connector has a body with closed end and an open end for receiving the electrical wires. At least a portion of the hollow body has an equilateral polygonal cross section shape formed by side surfaces which meet at corner sections. The tool socket includes a coupling through which torque is applied and has an aperture for receiving the connector. The aperture has a cross-sectional shape such that the tool socket engages only the connector corner sections and a space exists between the connector side surfaces and the socket. That engagement concentrates torque applied by the tool socket to the connector which causes the corner sections to round upon application of more than the predefined torque level, thus preventing excessive torque from being applied to the connector and the wires.
