Indirectly Operated Patents (Class 81/139)
  • Patent number: 8246028
Abstract: A telescopingly adjustable clamp for securing an object to a support may include an anchor rod with a plurality of circumferentially extending grooves which define at least one barrier wall. A positioning member defines a receptacle that receives a portion of the anchor rod and allows motion of the anchor rod relative to the positioning member in the receptacle. The positioning member includes a positioning tab that projects into the receptacle and is sized and shaped to be received in one of the grooves. The positioning member supports a clamping member that extends generally radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis of the anchor rod. Relative movement of the anchor rod and the positioning member changes the distance between the clamping member and the object.

  • Patent number: 6089129
Abstract: An adjustable wrench including a fixed jaw, a movable jaw, a gear, an engaging block, a switch button and a grip. When tightening or untightening a nut with the adjustable wrench, it is unnecessary to repeatedly draw up the wrench and fit the wrench onto the nut. The nut can be continuously rotated. In addition, the switch button can be switched to change the rotational direction without reversing the adjustable wrench so as to facilitate operation and increase working efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5287777
Abstract: An open end wrench has a single movable jaw to enable a ratcheting action. The movable jaw has an arcuate stem guided in an arcuate slot in the wrench body to enable spring retraction of the movable jaw to allow rotation of the jaws past the corners of a hex fastener in the reverse motion of the wrench. The center of the arcuate slot walls is located well within a quadrant of the wrench space nearest the slot which produces a particularly smooth ratcheting action enabling snapping the wrench over the bolt or nut from any angle. The movable jaw stem immediately wedges in the slot during advancing motion of the wrench to enable wrenching forces to be applied. Vee notches in the jaw faces allow twelve increments of ratcheting action, with a slightly shallower side on each notch further facilitating the ratcheting action. A serrating of the jaw faces enables the wrench to be used as an open end pipe wrench.

  • Patent number: 4712455
Abstract: A sliding jaw pipe wrench has a jaw adjustment mechanism comprising a longitudinally extending series of transverse recesses formed in one surface of a elongate shank on which the movable jaw of the wrench is formed. The shank is received in a retaining pocket in the wrench handle on which the stationary jaw is formed, and the handle includes a transverse locking pin for engagement in, and disengagement from the respective recesses to retain the movable jaw in position when engaged in a recess and allow the shank to be moved to adjust the jaws when disengaged from the recesses. The locking pin is operated by a trigger-like lever pivoted on the handle and connected to a locking pin by an elongate actuating rod. The wrench is provided with a fine adjustment mechanism in the form of a stud threaded transversely through an aperture in the handle so that the inner end of the stud can be tightened against an edge of the shank opposite the recesses.
