  • Patent number: 10807222
Abstract: A dismounting tool for disengaging ball joint connections on suspension and steering assemblies is disclosed. The dismounting tool comprises an actuator having two receiving portions, where the actuator is operable to force two receiving portions towards each other along an actuation axis. The dismounting tool further comprises a first tool member having an anvil portion with an engaging surface and a second tool member having a bifurcated portion with a supporting surface. Each of the tool members comprises a through hole and are detachably mounted to a respective receiving portion such that the through holes are arranged coaxially about the actuation axis such that the engaging surface faces the supporting surface. The actuator is, upon actuation, configured to move the two tool members towards each other along the actuation axis.

  • Patent number: 7794306
Abstract: An apparatus and method for surface finishing a workpiece is disclosed as including a workpiece supporting mechanism supporting a workpiece having a target shaped periphery with a given width to be surface finished and a tool holder holding a surface finish tool in abutting contact with the target shaped periphery of the workpiece. A pressure applying mechanism is operative to apply a pressure force to the surface finish tool through the tool holder to cause the surface finish tool to be held in pressured contact with the target shaped periphery, with the pressure force exhibiting a given distribution pattern depending upon an axial direction of the workpiece. A drive mechanism rotates the workpiece to allow the surface finish tool to surface finish the target shaped periphery into a given geometrical profile, variably contoured along an axis of the workpiece depending on the given pressure distribution pattern.

  • Patent number: 6961973
Abstract: A combination tool comprising a hammer head portion, a pipe wrench, a crescent wrench and a handle, wherein the pipe wrench and crescent wrench are located on opposite ends of the tool. The pipe wrench comprises an adjustable jaw and a fixed jaw, and the fixed jaw of the pipe wrench lies directly on top of the hammer head portion. The handle optionally comprises finger grips that can be formed out of the same material as the handle or a separate piece of material, such as rubber, that is wrapped around the outside of the handle. In the preferred embodiment, the length of the handle is in the range of four to ten inches, and the overall length of the tool is in the range of ten to twenty-four inches. The tool is preferably made of chrome-plated forged steel.

  • Patent number: 6748826
Abstract: A slide switch adjustable wrench uses a laminated steel construction method that includes a stepped surface to form a guide for the worm gear driven moving jaw. A molded or similarly formed body is sandwiched between the steel housing sides to form a sturdy structure. The body provides cavities, bearings and other features to support and guide moving parts within. A rack and pinion drive system uses simple molded gears to amplify about 2 inches of switch travel into about 6 turns of the worm gear. An overmolded rubber edge grip bonds to the body to create a recess in the body; this recess seamlessly fits the steel sides to form a smooth continuously contoured grip surface.

  • Patent number: 4703677
Abstract: A variable length tool in the form of a socket extension, screwdriver or other type of tool or tool holder which includes an externally threaded adjustable shaft having an unthreaded portion to prevent removal of the adjustable shaft from the tool. The body of the tool or tool holder is broached only at the end having an adjustment nut or screw for ease of manufacture and to enable some flexing and bending to a slight degree to eliminate critical alignment problems. In some instances, an adapter having a shear-type retaining pin is provided for over torque protection. The adjustment nut or screw is attached to the body of the tool or tool holder by rolling a portion thereof into an angled groove in the body to form a permanent connection and eliminating the need for a retaining ring and angled surfaces are provided between the tool holder or tool and the interior of the adjustment nut or screw to provide larger bearing surfaces and ease of alignment.
