Spiral Groove Engaged By Slidable Actuator Patents (Class 81/172)
  • Patent number: 7010999
Abstract: A bi-directional adjustable spanner with a driving roller comprises a head and a handle. The head includes a movable jaw slidably received within a sliding groove of the head; an adjustable sliding rod; a retaining jaw and a driving roller. The retaining jaw haS a receiving chamber; one side of the receiving chamber having an opening facing the movable jaw. The receiving chamber has a straight receiving groove with a U shape end; the receiving chamber being communicated to the straight receiving groove. The driving roller is received in the receiving chamber of the retaining jaw; and a part of the driving roller protruding out of the opening of the receiving chamber towards the movable jaw. An elastomer is received within the receiving groove. A resisting pin of the elastomer resists against the driving roller. A cover sheet is screwed to the opening of the retaining jaw by a screw.

  • Patent number: 6076434
Abstract: An adjustable jaw double ended wrench, where each set of jaws is gear operated. Each end wrench is adjustable, both individually and independently; the open end wrench driven by a spiral grooved shaft with beveled gears; the closed end wrench, linearly actuated by a direct driven spiral grooved shaft. At one end of the wrench is an adjustable open end wrench with a set of parallel jaws, useful in tightening or removing hex fasteners, such as hex and machine screw nuts, and cap screws. The other end, an adjustable closed end wrench for tightening or removing hex head cap screws, hex-head nuts, as well as for clutching other work. This wrench end is particularly well suited for use in areas that are blind to the user, especially in such applications as in automotive assembly and repair, ship inboard motor repair and numerous other applications of assembly and disassembly of items that may not be within the view of the user.

  • Patent number: 4046034
Abstract: Improvements in construction of an open end adjustable wrench of the type which utilizes a handle enclosed helix-actuating assembly and thumb slide actuator for opening and closing the jaws of the wrench, such improvements being directed to the handle cavity, helix actuator and bearing members in support thereof. More particularly, the actuator cavity is of such design and shape that it can be formed as by drop forging while unitarily forming base bearing members therein in properly spaced relationship for receiving the helix actuator in rotatable, longitudinally fixed position to extend a bevel gear into proper operational relationship with a mating bevel gear to drive the jaw adjusting worm gear within the head of the wrench. A cavity cover plate is then unitarily formed with properly positioned retaining bearings such that the cover plate is easily affixed over the cavity with retaining bearings in proper position to coact with the helix actuator.
