Patent number: 11897743Abstract: The industry-standard corkscrew has numerous flaws resulting in broken corks—even in the hands of a professional. The present invention is a radical departure from the traditional corkscrew apparatus. The opener generally consists of the handle and an internally threaded half-pipe. The half-pipe slides between the cork and the bottle, wherein the series of threads engage the cork. Rotating the handle causes the threads to bore deeper into the neck of the bottle until the handles meets the lip of the bottle, and then lift the cork out of the bottle until it disengages and falls away from the opener. It should be appreciated that the elegance of the opener resides in its simplicity.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2021Date of Patent: February 13, 2024Inventors: Christopher Kirk Carter, Nicholas Robert Pierce

Patent number: 11708255Abstract: The present invention is a cork removal tool and cork ejector. The big effort required is reduced by incorporating a battery powered reversible DC electric motor. It allows the extraction of the cork from a bottle and its ejection from the tool with a single hand, with minimal effort on the part of the user, holding the cork remover and bottle together to open the bottle and only the opener itself to eject the cork from the latter. Binding of the opener is avoided by a ratcheted nut assembly which in conjunction with a micro switch protects the opener from binding due to a wrongly pressed switch and allows the screw to penetrate the cork and to remove it from the bottle and then from the opener smoothly. The single hand operation enables operators who only have use of one hand to open a bottle of wine.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2020Date of Patent: July 25, 2023Inventor: Alvaro Bunster

Patent number: 8968564Abstract: A filter turning mechanism is attached to an engine in proximity to a filter (such as an oil filter), and may be used to install or remove a filter by turning the filter. The filter turning mechanism contacts a filter, and rotates the filter when the filter turning mechanism is rotated with a tool. One implementation of the filter turning mechanism includes an inner drive gear and a filter drive mechanism. The inner drive gear normally spins freely within the filter drive mechanism, but when pushed into the filter drive mechanism with a suitable tool such as a ratchet extension, the inner drive gear engages the filter drive mechanism, thereby causing rotation of the inner drive gear to rotate the filter drive mechanism as well, which in turn rotates the filter.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2011Date of Patent: March 3, 2015Assignee: HB Spider, LLCInventor: Christopher M. Patent number: 8671802Abstract: A movable outer cylindrical member and a movable inner cylindrical member are arranged vertically movably in a lower half of a cylindrical main body. By placing the movable inner cylindrical member on a bottle mouth and pushing down the cylindrical main body, a lower end of a hooking member is engaged with a lower end of the crown cap to pry the crown cap away. At the same time, the movable outer cylindrical member is moved up and a piston inside a cylinder arranged in an upper half of the cylindrical main body is moved up with the movable outer cylindrical member, so that the air in the cylinder is compressed, and a cover member is brought out in by the compressed air.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2013Date of Patent: March 18, 2014Inventor: Chikamitsu Takagi

Patent number: 7089825Abstract: A tab extending sleeve for a flip-top beverage, snack, and pet food container for easy opening and re-closing, wherein the sleeve is a substantially longitudinal member having a length, a width, a front end, and a distal end. The sleeve includes a top surface and a planar bottom surface being connected to each other, and an internal longitudinal channel is disposed between the top and bottom surfaces. The internal channel extends throughout the entire length of the tab extending sleeve with a width that adequately accommodates a lifting tab of the container. At the front end of the bottom surface there is provided a central notch, whereas an extended holding lip is disposed at the center of the distal end of the top surface which extends beyond the peripheral rim for easy lifting thereof of the beverage container.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2004Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Inventor: Lawrence Gerald Klosterman

Patent number: 6289768Abstract: A multipurpose folding tool, for use by picnickers and travelers, including a corkscrew, a crown cap remover, and a can opener, as well as a small fork and a small butter knife. Both the corkscrew and a brace for use together with it fit close to the handles of the tool when the tool is in a compact, folded configuration. A spring in one handle keeps the corkscrew safely folded when not in use, and a spring on the brace keeps it in a desired position relative to the handles. The tool also includes folding pliers and may include folding screwdrivers, knife blades, and scissors.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1999Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Leatherman Tool Group, Inc.Inventors: Craig J.
