Abstract: An elongate shaft includes a top wall and bottom wall having a hook at the top wall, with a handle mounted diametrically through the shaft adjacent the bottom wall. A latch including a side wall rod having a head spaced from a side wall is arranged for receiving a looped can opening member to effect a rolling of the pop top to permit its spacing from an opening in a conventional pop top type container.

Abstract: A crimping tool according to the present invention has a head pivotally coupled with a pair of elongated handles. The head includes a pair of jaw members, mounted on separate pivots between a pair of jaw links, with opposing first and second planar crimping surfaces which, when brought together, abut and form sides of an included angle. A movable die member having a relatively elongated third planar crimping surface lies between the jaws and the first and second crimping surfaces to define with those surfaces a triangular crimping nest. The movable die member is adjustably mounted to the pair of jaw links for continuously adjustable positioning of the third crimping surface with respect to the first and second crimping surfaces and continuous adjustment of crimp nest size.

Abstract: A combination bottle opener and can opener is disclosed. A bottle opening element may be movably connected to a can opening element. The bottle opening element may include a first end having an angled portion and a protrusion that cooperate to define a bottle cap receiving area. The bottle opening element may also include an angled body section. The can opening element may include a cutting blade pivotally connected to a body part. The cutting blade may include a cutting edge, a cut-out portion and a plurality of projections. The body part may include a strengthening rib, a tapered edge and a can rim receiving notch. In an open, extended position the combination opener has length greater than the bottle opening element or can opening element alone. This greater length increases the leverage and decreases the amount of force necessary to open a bottle or can, respectively.

Abstract: A multi-stage, batch or continuous, manual or automated process and apparatus for safely depressurizing, de-capping (decrimping plus pulling caps), and recycling aerosol cans, propellants, solvents, chemicals, dip tubes, and can tops. The apparatus includes a synchronized sorting and loading unit for guiding the cans onto an advancing line. The cans are first depressurized by a vacuum head unit comprising a vacuum seal and a reciprocable hollow needle which punctures the can recessed top cap and removes the propellants by suction for later reuse or disposal. The cans are advanced to a decapping unit where the cap member is removed by decrimping to crack the seal followed by being vertically pulled off without damage to the can's rolled lip.

Abstract: A detachable lid for a beverage can is adapted to be snap fit over the lid of an opened can. The lid has a spout adapted to be fit in the users mouth, a closure for the spout, a resilient strap for holding the closure to the lid, and a pry tab to enable the user to pry up the opening tab of a "snap-open" can.

Abstract: A bottle cap and seal remover for removing the bottle cap and seal from a bottle of gas line anti-freeze, enabling the contents of the bottle to be poured into a gas tank. A first embodiment is formed as a hand-held opener which may be mounted on a key-ring so as to be readily available at the filling station. The first embodiment includes a handle and a plurality of lever portions integral with each other so as to provide structure to pry the bottle cap and seal from the top of the bottle. The second embodiment includes a board designed to be placed in filling station lanes so as to be accessible to both filling station customers and personnel, the board having a bottle cap remover, a seal piercer and remover, and a bottle cap and seal receptacle integrally mounted thereon to receive and retain the removed bottle caps and seals. Both the first and second embodiments may selectively have instructions and advertising on at least one surface.

Abstract: A plurality of spring-biased legs mounted relative to one another defining an acute angle therebetween include respective prying and piercing legs pivotally mounted at a common junction relative to the first and second legs. The first and second legs include semi-cylindrical heads arranged whose axes are parallel relative to one another, and each including an abutment flange to engage a container seal subsequent to its piercing and prying relative to a neck portion of a container.

Abstract: A radiator cap loosening and removal tool includes a generally U-shaped bail or handle pivotally attached to a base, which is in turn fastened to a radiator cap by self tapping sheet metal screws. An alterative embodiment comprises a U-shaped bail or handle whose legs embrace the radiator cap and are pivotally fastened thereto by screws or rivets.

Abstract: A combination jar or bottle cap remover and bag opener. This kitchen tool consists essentially of two side bars and a base. One side bar contains a gripping blade for removing caps and the other side bar contains a bag opening device.

Abstract: A cork removal device having a handle, a conventional corkscrew device (such as a spiral corkscrew), and a strap for removal of damaged and pushed-through corks. The strap is made from a resilient plastic material and is attached to the handle forming a loop. In a folded position used to push a cork through the neck of a wine bottle, the middle area of the strap is folded inwardly and upwardly thereby forming a roughly "W" shaped configuration with pre-formed creases forming the bottom of the legs of the "W". The strap is unfolded for retrieval operations and inserted into the bottle, guided by the creases which contact the sides of the bottle neck. The buoyant cork moves into a saddle formed in the bottom of the strap and is removed with the strap when the user pulls upwardly. The strap is patterned so that cork fragments adhere to the strap. A storage cover is povided for placement over the folded strap, or the strap may be attached to and stored within the handle.

Abstract: A tool for removing the cover from a five gallon plastic or metallic container which tool has a lever portion, a handle portion at one end of the lever portion and an actuating member secured to the other end of the lever portion wherein the actuating member has a portion for removing a plastic cover and another portion for removing a metallic cover.

Abstract: A one-piece elongated body has a widened handle end portion at one end and a sharpened nose end portion at the other end. A slot extending lengthwise of the body opens generally centrally of the nose end portion. A can of the type having an opening ring attached to a lid separable from the base of the can by manipulation of the opening ring can be opened easily by use of the device by either: (1) inserting the nose of the device through the aperture of the opening ring until the ring engages in a notch adjacent to the nose portion, whereupon the device can be pulled for separating the lid from the can; or (2) sliding the device toward the opening ring such that the ring is fitted in the slot, wedging the ring upward by upward-swinging of the device, followed by turning the device such that the ring is fitted sideways in the slot and rotating the device in a screwing motion for peeling the lid from the can.

Abstract: A utility device for a key ring which serves a plurality utilities, including key ring anchorage, bottle cap opener, screw driver, hook and item holder with respect to another object. The utility device has a generally C-shaped structure having a central open space defined by interior walls of a main member, two cross members and two opposed tabs. A hole is provided in the C-shaped structure to permit a key ring (key chain and the like) to be connected thereto. The distance between facing ends of the tabs is preselected to permit the ends to cooperate so that a user can leverably act on a bottle cap to open a capped bottle. One external corner of the C-shaped structure is preferred to be provided with a flat, beveled blade edge to serve as a screwdriver blade. It is further preferred for a portion of the interior walls to have a predetermined contour which servies to assist hooking of the C-shaped structure onto an object.

It may include other tools such as screwdriver blades, line cutters, prying claws, glass cutters and the like for convenience in having certain useful tools at hand when needed without encumbering the hands of the user. The tools are arranged in a line along the circumference of the device. Also described is a set of magnets arranged in a particular configuration and polarity to unlock a magnetic lock.

Abstract: A multi-purpose tool for opening a variety of pail or bucket types of containers and having a handle portion from which a claw-type opener extends from one end and optionally a plurality of projections adapted for opening particular types of containers extend from the opposite end.

Abstract: A combination cap remover and carton top opener tool is provided and consists of a twist-off cap remover portion, a bottle cap remover portion and a carton top opener portion. The twist-off cap remover portion will break the seal of a tamper proof zip strip from a twist-off cap on a container. The bottle cap remover portion will lift off a bottle cap from a bottle. The carton top opener portion will break the seal between a pair of tabs on a top of a carton and form a pouring spout from two flaps.

Abstract: An apparatus for removing a cap, especially a radiator cap, is disclosed having a cylindrical body 11, said body being open on one end, with diametrically opposed notch pairs 14 and 15 let into the walls of body 11 at its open end. A resilient strap 20 is employed to remove radiator caps which have no lugs. The invention will accommodate the removal of the majority of American and internationally made automotive radiator caps. Alternate embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: The invention provides a pocket hand corkscrew having an operating lever with a bottom and two flanges, attached to a channel-like guideway which may pivot from a position wherein it is applied against the bottom. A slide member may slide along the guideway, is attached to a helical corkscrew member and has teeth. A dog rotatably attached to the lever may engage the teeth when the lever is operated, providing smooth, comfortable movement of the slide member and consequently of the helical screw member previously driven into a stopper.

Abstract: A device for opening a bottle and forming a closure cap for the bottle as a replacement for the removed crown cap. The bottle opener and closure cap includes a split metal ring that encloses a circular metal disc and resilient sealing member which are placed on top of a bottle that has its crown cap removed by the opener. The opener is formed in a handle which has a cam arrangement associated therewith to clamp the ring around the open end of a bottle. The ring includes an inwardly inclined bottom edge to engage a rib on the end of the bottle to cam the disc and sealing member downwardly in tight relationship to the open end of the bottom thereby forming a secure and positive closure cap for the bottle. The pivotal handle includes an opener incorporated therein by which a crown cap can be removed from the bottle.

The first bottle opener portion and the handle are constructed in one piece, from a rubber-like material. Engagement members are provided on the walls of the first opening of the first bottle opener portion for gripping and turning the twist-off screw cap.

Abstract: A bottle opener and key ring for lifting and twisting off bottle caps. It is made from a one piece solid body about 4" by 2". The design shows a hook at one end, a gear teeth type structure at the mid lower base, and a ring for holding keys at the other end. The ring, which carries the keys, is the only moveable part.

Abstract: A multiple-function beverage container opener is provided which features an ergonomically-shaped, elongate body having a stay-on tab opener on one end thereof, a crimped-on bottle cap opener on the opposite end thereof, and twist-off bottle opener in a central socket portion thereof. The stay-on tab opener is characterized by an arcuate loop formed between outboard and inboard arcuate-shaped lances. The arcuate-shaped lances and loop are provided with a radius that is substantially similar to the rim of the beverage container lid so that the loop fits between the tab handle and the rim of the beverage container. A ramp is coined in the arcuate loop to further assist in the camming of the tab handle upwardly into the arcuate loop for further pivoting and opening of the scored closure of the stay-on tab opener.

Abstract: A funnel of a type having a cup and a hollow stem extending from the bottom thereof whereby a plurality of struts support a member that extends upwardly from the center of the cup and is shaped so that it drivingly engages the driven end of a socket wrench.

Abstract: A combination pop-top can and bottle opener having an elongated lever body, a lifting element positioned on the lever body and sized and shaped to fit underneath a lift tab on a pop-top can, a fulcrum element formed on the lever body in physical association with the lift element but spaced away from the lift element to form a pop-top tab sheaving channel between the lift element and the fulcrum element, is improved by including an improved bottle cap edge gripper on the lever body. The edge gripper is formed to include one or both of a concave edge or a tongue. The tongue is tilted out of the plane of the remainder of the edge gripper. Further, opposing detents are formed on the gripper member to facilitate attachment of the gripper member to the lever body.

Abstract: A bottle holder comprises a handle manually graspable by a user, a cap remover carried by the handle for receiving, gripping and removing the cap of the bottle, an attachment member fixed to the handle, open at one end, and having internal threads at the opposite end for threading onto the external threads of the bottle neck, a closure pivotally mounted to the attachment member either to a closed position closing its open end or to an open position, and an operator carried by the handle and mechanically coupled to the closure to enable the operator, when operated by the user, to move the closure to either its open position or to its closed position with respect to the open end of the attachment member.

Abstract: A combination lighter case and opener for both crown cap bottles and tab top cans has a handle with recess for removably holding a cigarette lighter. The lighter operating elements are exposed at one end of the handle. Another end of the handle is provided with a loop type opener for prying off crown caps. Extending from the end of the loop type opener is a projection for sliding under the tab of a tab top can. A recess at the base of the projection engages the tab for bending it down after the can is opened.

Abstract: A multi-purpose device is disclosed for opening a variety of containers, such as plastic milk jugs, soda cans and soda bottles. A cup-like guide member is received over the tamper-resistance cap of a plastic milk jug and has cleaving lugs projecting downward into the spaces between rupturable connector elements, which join the threaded cap to a fixed locking collar. By twisting the guide member, the cleaving lugs are caused to rupture the connector elements and free the cap for easy removal. A handle provides leverage to facilitate application of the necessary twisting torque. A smaller cup-like section, co-axial with the cup-like guide member but of smaller diameter, is provided with ribbed side walls for engagement with the flutes of a standard twist-off bottle cap to facilitate its removal by twisting.

The tool comprises a plug holder (34), including two movable gripping jaws (37) having gripping portions (38), insertable into a cavity (18) in the plug (17). The gripping jaws (37) are brought into contact with opposite portions of the side wall (20) of the cavity (18). In order to make it possible to use the tool (30) for handling plugs (17) having cavities (18) of considerable varying diameter, the gripping portions (38) of the gripping jaws (37) are arranged to be moved from rectracted inner end positions to expanded outer end positions through the action of spring forces applied from a spring (45) contained in the plug holder (34 ).

Abstract: A reusable, releasable, self-locking handle device is provided for carrying and manipulating large bottles and containers, the handle comprises a frame member having a support strap and a lock ring adapted to secure and lock a wide-body, narrow neck container, such as a large two liter bottle, and a hand grip web which allows one-handed manipulation of the large bottle. The lock ring may take the form of a flexible, resilient snap ring open at one end adapted to grip the narrow neck portion of the container or bottle. A thumb depression element allows for flexing of the ring. Also provided in the handle is a screw cap opener incorporating gripping teeth in the handle which can be used to easily and quickly break the initial seal of a sealed cap. The entire handle may be made of plastic.

Abstract: An improved can opening tool for opening a can having a pull tab is provided. The tool includes a ring member and an arm attached to the ring member having a bent end. An index finger is snugly engaged by the ring member, with the end of the arm engaged with the pull tab for imparting a pulling force to the pull tab.

Abstract: An opener for both pop-top cans and bottles is formed to include an elongated lever body. A lifting element is positioned on the lever body and is sized and shaped to fit underneath the lift tab on a pop-top can. A fulcrum element is further formed on the lever body in physical association with the lift element but spaced away from the lift element so as to form a channel between the lift element and the fulcrum element. The channel is sized and shaped such that the lift tab of the pop-top can can be sheaved in the channel between the lift element and the fulcrum element for manipulation of the lift tab to open the pop-top can. The opener further includes a bottle cap edge gripper located on the lever body in physical association with the fulcrum element. For removing bottle caps from capped bottles, the bottle cap edge gripper is independently formed and then positioned on the opener such that it engages the edge of the bottle cap when the fulcrum element is positioned in the center of the bottle cap.

Abstract: A tool for use in dressing the electrode tips of a welding machine. It is to be used in combination with conventional rotary dressing tools whereby one person can apply sufficient pressure on the tool to properly dress the welding tip. It consists of a clamping device to attach the tool of the invention to an electrode shank, and an adjustable lever arm to apply pressure to the dressing tool against the welding tip.

Abstract: A combination lighter and container opener includes an elongated handle which has a container opener member at one end. The other end of the handle has a pair of rolled under and inwardly turned flanges oriented to permit the frictional wedging engagement of the fuel tank portion of a disposable lighter, leaving the igniter portion of the lighter extending beyond the other end of the handle. The handle has a length which is greater than the length of the lighter, and the flanges are spaced apart to permit a lighter to be pushed out of the handle for replacement with a new one when the fuel is spent.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a reusable bottle cap which cooperates with a soda bottle or the like to maintain the required pressure within the bottle. The reusable bottle cap is secured to an open end of the bottle. The bottle, with the bottle cap secured thereto, is inverted such that the liquid contents of the bottle is provided adjacent the bottle cap. In this position, air is prevent from flowing into or out of the bottle, so that the pressure of the bottle is maintained over time and changing conditions. Support means are provided on the bottle cap to insure that the bottle will be maintained in the vertical position. Also provided on the bottle cap is a removal means, which cooperates with the original lid of the bottle, to easily remove the lid therefrom.

Abstract: A tool for removing radiator caps. The tool has a hollow handle and a flanged hollow face. The hollow face has a recess with a perimeter. The perimeter has a pair of opposed rectangular indentations, at least one pair of opposed arcuate indentations, and a pair of tapering indentations which interrupt the perimeter to form a pair of opposed openings.

Abstract: An opener for tab-top, screw-top and crimped top beverage containers is disclosed. The opener comprises: an injection-molded, substantially flat, elongated handle of an essentially constant wall thickness having a central portion and two ends; a cavity molded in one end of the handle; a serrate frustoconical receptacle molded in the central portion of the handle; an opening molded in the other end of the handle; a passage also molded in the other end and communicating with the opening; and a steel insert frictionally retained in the passage, a portion of the insert protruding into the opening. In use, the cavity receives a tab-top tab, the receptacle engages a screw-top cap, or the opening receives a crimped-top cap, the insert engaging the edge of the cap. The ergonomic handle is then used as a lever to open the container. A permanent magnet may be attached to the opener to allow easy storage on a magnetic surface. The opener may be provided with holes for attaching a cord or tether.

Abstract: A tool for removing tight fitting lids from bulk containers including a rigid shaft, a knife assembly mounted on one end of the shaft on one side thereof, and a lifting hook mounted on the same end of the shaft, but on the opposite side thereof. A handle is attached perpendicularly to the other end of the shaft.

Abstract: A coaster for supporting beverage cans that is also operative to open both tab topped beverage cans and twist-off cap bottles. The coaster is a square body with parallel top and bottom surfaces and relatively short sides that are normal to both the top and bottom surfaces. A circular depression, whose surface serves to support beverage cans, is formed on the top surface. A circular dome is formed on the central portion of the depression's surface. The coaster also includes a slot, for opening tab topped beverage cans, formed on the corner of one of its sides. The coaster also includes a circular depression, having a circle or radially inwardly extending projections on its inner wall, centrally formed on its bottom surface. This depression serves to remove twist-off bottle caps from beverage bottles.

Abstract: A finger ring having a decorative jewelry appearance but having integrated with the body structure of the ring a utilitarian structure that can be used to lift the tab of a tab-top or pop-top container. The structure of the ring includes a ring body which is circular or oval in shape with at least one arcuate segment of the ring body having a cross-section, when taken perpendicular to the plane of the ring, which includes a shoulder portion of the ring body connected to a tab opener lip by a neck portion of the ring body, the neck portion of the ring body forming the upper surface of the ring to form a lip which extends in the direction of the axis of the ring for use in opening pop-top or tab-top containers.

Abstract: A funnel of a type having a cup and a hollow stem extending from the bottom thereof whereby a plurality of struts support a member that extends upwardly from the center of the cup and is shaped so that it drivingly engages the driven end of a socket wrench.

Abstract: A bottle includes a mouth and a neck adjoining the mouth. The neck has helical ribs on the outside to permit application of a peripherally indented, screw-on crown. The main body of the bottle has a base, which is provided with an upward recess. A plurality of inwardly projecting ribs is provided around the periphery of the recess, each rib being convexly rounded and devoid of points, and having two concavely rounded shoulder portions on either side, so that stress concentration is minimized. The recess is sized to receive a peripherally indented crown of the same size as that receivable on the neck, so that the ribs register in at least some of the peripheral indentations. Thus, one bottle can serve as a crown remover for another, without a significant risk that the ribs will break or crack.

Abstract: An apparatus which enables the user to easily remove a bottle cap having a safety seal from a container such as a milk or juice container. The apparatus fits over the cap and safety seal unit and allows the user to easily separate the safety seal from the bottle cap by rotation of the apparatus with respect to the cap. Neither the cap or bottle is deformed so that the cap may be used to reseal the container after separation of the safety seal.

Abstract: A tool for removing child resistant caps from medicine containers is formed of a resilient material providing a good frictional interfit with the cap to be removed. The tool has a lower surface defining a cap receiving recess and an upper surface defining a smooth surface of transition comfortably received in the palm of one's hand. The cap is removed by inserting it into the recess and by palm pressure only, depressing and rotating the cap to remove it from its child resistant engagement with the container.

Abstract: Corkscrew of the type having folding tools (2,3) in a handle (4), such as a screw-type means of insertion in a cork (2) and a fulcrum lever extension means such as counter-lever (3) having a slot seat for crown caps as well, and the additional function of supporting by a notched end on the inside ledge of the bottle's neck together with said means of screw insertion (2), both hinged to one end of the handle at a convenient distance from each other, characterized in that:the handle (4) is in plastic material, andthe fulcrum lever extension means such as counter-lever (3) is of a semitubular form having a slot seat (3") through its back with an undercut to engage a crown cap, and the handle (4) being equipped with a hollow complementary with the slot so as to make it actively usable whether the counter-lever is closed or is completely open in alignment, or nearly so, with the handle (4).

Abstract: The tool is used in opening and/or reopening a bulk container of the type having a plastic lid which is mounted to the container by means of an annular rim having a lip that engages an annular rib on the container. The tool comprises an elongate body having a distal end and a proximal end. The proximal end forms a handle for the tool. A base member is mounted on the distal end of the body and a cross-member is mounted on and across the body at a position spaced a predetermined distance from the base member. The cross-member has two oppositely disposed end portions. Each end portion terminates in a hook shaped structure including an arm extending toward the base member. One arm, on a side facing the body, has an arcuate pry-bar configuration. The other arm, on a side facing the body, has a cutting edge.

Abstract: Disclosed is a pliers for contracting CV boot band clamps having crossed lever arms, with each lever arm having a jaw at one end, a grippable handle at the other, and a drive socket between the handle and jaw. The pliers also has a thrust plate with an anvil that moves toward the jaws as they are brought together by closing the pliers.

Abstract: This bottle opener is designed to remove screw caps off of beer bottles with little effort. Primarily, it consists of a base cap with left hand threads on the interior, for engagement with the outer threads of a screw cap on a filled bottle. It also is provided with a locking band in the top portion that locks a bottom end of an empty bottle in the device, so as to serve as a handle and also provide mechanical advantage for easy rotation to remove the screw cap from the filled bottle.
