  • Patent number: 5868046
Abstract: The present invention provides for an adjustable wrench device which will enable a user to obtain greater torque for easy removal of items, such as oil filter, jar lids, and removing and tightening screws when used with a screw driver. The adjustable wrench device comprises having a front end and a back end. A threaded rod extends outwardly from the front end and a first clamp is removably secured to the threaded rod. A second clamp is secured to the hand and is located in proximity to the front end. This second clamp cannot be remove from the handle, but it can freely rotate about the handle. A first end of a strap is secured to the first clamp while a second end of the strap is secured to a pivotal level. The pivotal level is secured to the second clamp. Thereby, this design will enable the user to threadably secure the first clamp to the threaded rod for a desired diameter. Once the desired diameter is obtained, the strap is placed around the item and the handle is rotated.

  • Patent number: 5692789
Abstract: A tool for grasping a ratchet socket or other objects such as pipes and rods. The object can be stopped from turning due to the friction of the tool or the object can be rotated when desired. In one embodiment a slidable trigger is connected to the spring biased rod to permit a loop in the flexible belt to be enlarged for slipping around a socket or other object. When the trigger is released the loop grips the socket and frictionally holds the socket while closing the jaw. In a second embodiment the flexible friction belt connects to a handle which is slidably held in an outer housing. The handle may be moved to open and close a loop in the friction belt. An automatic lock is provided in the housing so the friction belt will turn the object being held as the belt loop is enlarged and made smaller.

  • Patent number: 5361654
Abstract: A tool for the installation and removal of an elongated member such as a spark plug, with threads extending from an end through at least a part of the length of the member, takes the form of a tube, open at both ends, made of stiffly resilient expansible material, and a liner in the tube, fixed against movement relative to the tube. • Patent number: 4964330
Abstract: An oil filter accessory is disclosed to facilitate installation and/or removal of an oil filter from an automobile engine or the like. The oil filter accessory includes a housing having at least one open adapted to fit over canister-type oil filter. The housing is capable of being locked relative to the oil filter to secure the housing against the rotation relative to the oil filter. The locking may be accomplished by a suitable circumferential clamp, pivoting locking lever(s), internal locking surfaces or other equivalent structure to prevent rotation of the housing relative to the oil filter. Suitably configured and dimensioned hand wrenching elements are operably associated with the housing to enable a user to physically grip and rotate the oil filter in either direction for tightening or loosening same relative to the automobile engine or the like.

  • Patent number: 4866813
Abstract: A load carrying handle for securement to an article to be hand-supported or displaced. The carrying handle comprises a handle grip having a strap retaining elongated cavity therein. The cavity has an open end and a bottom end wall. An article attaching element having at least a flat grip attaching portion is also provided. A wedge rod is disposed in tight fit in the cavity with the attaching portion of the attaching element wedged between the wedge rod and extends over opposed sides of the wedge rod and an inner end thereof. The wedge rod is dimensioned so that an outer end thereof terminates substantially flush with a peripheral end wall of the handle grip about the open end so that when the carrying handle is secured to an article and the attaching element is secured tightly about the article, the wedge rod outer end will abut the object and provide a solid connection therewith with the attaching portion held secured between the handle grip and wedge.

  • Patent number: 4840093
Abstract: A device for loosening and tightening the lids on jars or containers. The device has a handle, and a strap and brace attached to the handle. The strap is placed through the brace and formed into a loop so that it may be slipped over the lid. When a rotational force is applied to the handle, the brace pulls against the strap so as to apply a rotational force to the lid which is greater than the force applied to the handle. A spike extends from the top of the device which is placed through a hole in the strap to secure the strap to the handle. The strap has a series of holes to accommodate a large variation in sizes of lids. For loosening the lid, a counter-clockwise force, relative to the center of the lid when viewed from above, is applied to the handle. For tightening the lid, the handle is reversed and a clockwise force is applied to the handle.
