    Abstract: A one handed quick release locking pliers preferably includes a fixed jaw, a movable jaw, a fixed handle, a toggle link, a power link and a movable handle. The fixed jaw is retained in one end of the fixed. The movable jaw is pivotally retained in the one end of the fixed handle. A toggle link release surface extends from the second end of the toggle link. A toggle link stop projection extends outward from the actuation portion. The toggle link stop projection provides an over-center stop for clamping an object. A power link release projection extends outward from the movable handle, substantially perpendicular to the toggle link stop projection. The power link release projection contacts the power link. Moving a second end of the movable handle away from the fixed handle will cause the power link release projection to push the power link and release a clamped object.

    Abstract: The self-adjusting locking pliers include a fixed assembly having a fixed jaw supported at one end. A moveable jaw is pivotably supported on the fixed assembly at a slidable pivot connection. The slidable pivot connection includes a pawl provided with teeth. A rack of teeth includes first and second sets of teeth offset from one another by 1/2 of the pitch that may each be engaged by the teeth formed on pawl. A lever is attached to the fixed assembly and a linkage transmits a force applied to the lever to the jaws and locks the jaws in the clamping position. The linkage allows the angle between the links to be preset to thereby control the clamping force applied to the work piece. The movable jaw is selectively attached to the linkage in one two positions such that the jaw span may be adjusted without affecting the geometry of the linkage.

    Abstract: An improved set of adjustable locking pliers having two pivotally mounted jaws. A lock lever is pivotally mounted to one handle member and slidably retained in the longitudinal grooved portion of the opposite handle, and an adjustment screw threaded longitudinally into the grooved handle member bears upon the sliding end of the lever. Handle members are pivotally connected to retaining plates, said plates having a pin projecting between them with the jaws pivotally mounted and laterally disposed thereon. The gripping surfaces of the jaws interlock above the pin and meet flush in the locked position. The handle member having the adjustment screw has a curved end which spreads the bottom of the jaws apart in the locked position, thereby forcing the gripping surfaces together.

The slidable connection includes a pivot pin which is slidable in a slot defined in the movable handle.
