Patent number: 8919229Abstract: A one handed quick release locking pliers preferably includes a fixed jaw, a movable jaw, a fixed handle, a toggle link, a power link and a movable handle. The fixed jaw is retained in one end of the fixed. The movable jaw is pivotally retained in the one end of the fixed handle. A toggle link release surface extends from the second end of the toggle link. A toggle link stop projection extends outward from the actuation portion. The toggle link stop projection provides an over-center stop for clamping an object. A power link release projection extends outward from the movable handle, substantially perpendicular to the toggle link stop projection. The power link release projection contacts the power link. Moving a second end of the movable handle away from the fixed handle will cause the power link release projection to push the power link and release a clamped object.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2014Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Inventors: Robert L. Patent number: 7833243Abstract: The invention relates to a medical grasping and holding instrument with a handle consisting of two handgrips and with a holding portion that consists of at least two jaw members and can be activated by the handle. The jaw members of the holding portion can be locked by means of a spring element both in an end position that releases the holding portion and in an end position that locks the holding portion. In order to create a medical grasping and holding instrument that is of simple construction, can be operated with just one hand, and is easy to clean, it is proposed with this invention that the spring element, configured as a flat spring, for locking the jaw members in their end positions is mounted between the handgrips of the handle so as to connect the two handgrips to one another in such a way that the spring element can be moved by way of a bearing point of a handgrip at the spring element between two end positions that release the spring element.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2004Date of Patent: November 16, 2010Assignee: Karl Storz GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5509291Abstract: A crimping tool includes first and second jaws (1, 2) which are journalled at a first pivot point (5) for pivotal movement relative to one another. A forward end of a first handle (6) is rigidly connected to the first jaw (1), while a forward end of a second handle (7) is pivotally connected to the second jaw (2) at a second pivot point (8). A linkage construction (9) extends obliquely rearwards from a third pivot point (10) located on the second handle (7) rearwardly of the second pivot point (8), up to a fourth pivot point (11) on the first handle (6). The distance (D) between the first and the second pivot points (5, 8) is 0.30-0.35 times the distance (A) between the first and the fourth pivot points (5, 11), the distance (C) between the second and the third pivot points (8, 10) is 0.20-0.25 times the distance (A) between the first and the fourth pivot points (5, 11), and the distance (B) between the third and the fourth pivot points (10, 11) is 0.62-0.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1994Date of Patent: April 23, 1996Assignee: Pressmaster Tool ABInventors: Mikael Nilsson, Mats Norin

Patent number: 5435214Abstract: A plier-type locking wrench has an elongated body having a pair of jaws at one end and a pair of handles at an opposite end. The pair of jaws includes a fixed jaw and a movable jaw. The pair of handles includes a fixed handle and a movable handle. A threaded member engages the fixed handle. An operating crank is pivotally attached to the body adjacent the fixed handle. The movable jaw is connected to the operating crank by a connecting rod. The movable handle is pivotally connected to the operating crank. A locking lever has a first end pivotally connected to the movable handle and a second end cammingly engageable with the threaded member. The movable handle is displacable relative to the fixed handle to displace the operating crank which, in turn, displaces the connecting rod and the movable jaw. The locking lever permits the movable jaw to be locked in a desire position relative to the fixed jaw. The threaded member is adjustable to adjust the locking position of the pivotal jaw.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1994Date of Patent: July 25, 1995Inventor: Clarence E. Sisson

Patent number: 4237718Abstract: A bending tool for bending a bendable member. The bending tool includes first and second engaging members each having an engaging surface for engaging a portion of the bendable member. A first support member supports the first engaging member and a second support member is provided for supporting the second engaging member. Mounting means mount the second support member for relative movement with respect to the first support member between an open position in which the first and second engaging members are spaced from one another a first distance, and a closed position in which the first and second engaging members are spaced from one another a second distance less than the first distance. Pivotal mounting means are provided for pivotally mounting the second engaging member on the second support member so as to be pivotable with respect to the second support member independent of relative movement of the first and second support members.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 1979Date of Patent: December 9, 1980Assignee: Thomas & Betts CorporationInventor: William S.
