Abstract: A locking pliers includes a fixed handle supporting a fixed jaw, a movable jaw, a movable handle pivotally connected to the movable jaw about a pivotal axis, and a movable pivot unit disposed on the fixed handle and the movable jaw. The pivot unit includes a pivot pin and a pivot hole configured to loosely receive the pivot pin such that, when a manual turning force is applied to the movable handle, the movable jaw is turned clockwise to a locking position. As a result of abutting engagement between the pivot pin and a leading region of the pivot hole, a friction force is generated to hold the movable jaw in a tightening position. The gripping force between fixed and movable clamping surfaces of the jaws can be firm and stable.
Abstract: A locking pliers locking pliers includes a fixed handle. A fixed jaw is connected to the fixed handle. A movable jaw cooperates with the fixed jaw and includes movable and fixed pivoting regions. A movable handle is pivotally connected to the movable pivoting region. A movable pivot unit includes a pivot pin engaging with the fixed handle and the fixed pivoting region, and a pivot hole disposed in one of the fixed handle and the fixed pivoting region and configured and dimensioned to loosely receive the pivot pin. The pivot hole has a first diametrical size and the pivot pin having a second diametrical size not greater than 0.8 times the first diametrical size. A biasing member engages with the fixed handle and the movable jaw.

Abstract: A toggle wrench has a first jaw fixed to a handle, a sliding jaw slidable toward and away from the fixed jaw and a leaf spring therebetween. The jaws have parallel pressure surfaces disposed at an angle of 30 degrees with respect to the elongation of the handle. A link is pivotally attached to the sliding jaw and to a carrier. The carrier is positioned along the handle by a manually controllable threaded adjustment assembly mounted on the rearward end of the handle. A lever is pivotally attached to the carrier rearwardly of the link. Movement of the rearward end of the link toward the fixed jaw side of the handle causes forward movement of the link for toggle-pressing the sliding jaw toward the fixed jaw. The carrier holds the lever and link in alignment with the handle.

Abstract: A positive-locking surgical clamp has a first channel-shaped handle provided with a stationary elongated gripping jaw, a movable elongated gripping jaw pivotally mounted on the first handle in cooperative relationship with the stationary jaw and also pivotally joined to one end of a second channel-shaped handle, and a lever disposed within the confronting channels of the two handles and pivotally joined at one end to the second handle and at the other end engaging an adjustably positioned block supported in the channel of the first handle to provide a toggle action which develops a locked grip of large even pressure when the handles are squeezed into engagement with each other. The grip of the clamp is easily released by a thumb-actuated lever disposed alongside one of the handles which operates a cam pivoted within the channel of the handle in a position to engage the lever and force the handles apart.
