Patent number: 10661024Abstract: A needle shield remover for removing a needle shield covering a needle on a syringe includes a body having a proximal portion and a distal portion. The distal portion is moveable between a contracted configuration and an expanded configuration in response to opposite movement of the proximal portion. The distal portion includes an internal opening for receiving and at least partially surrounding a needle shield therein. An anchor extends inwardly from the distal portion into engagement with the needle shield when the distal portion is in the contracted configuration to secure the body to the needle shield. A sleeve is in fixed axial arrangement with the proximal portion of the body. The axial engagement maintains the distal portion of the body in the contracted configuration such that force applied to the sleeve away from the body removes the needle shield and body from a syringe.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2016Date of Patent: May 26, 2020Assignee: West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc.Inventor: Timothy Allen

Patent number: 6530099Abstract: A composite pliers has crossed levers, each including a non-metallic body with an exposed metal cutter blade. The pliers includes strengthening and/or retaining structure around a pivot joint which does not extend into handle portions of the levers. This structure strengthens the pivot joint and can help confine the pliers parts in the event of failure. In one embodiment, each lever has a pivot joint strengthening structure insert molded therein, the structure extending into a jaw portion of each lever and protruding from the non-metallic body to form a workpiece engagement surface, such as a cutting blade. In one form, the jaws have more than one row of teeth with adjacent rows offset from each other. When the pliers is assembled from two identical lever members, each row of teeth on one lever will face the offset row of teeth on the other lever so that the peaks of the teeth on one lever fall within the grooves between the teeth on the opposing row.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2000Date of Patent: March 11, 2003Assignee: Snap-on Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Dean J. To localize and retain the spring, the sleeve is formed with an elongate slot (4) on its side facing towards the opposite handle, the slot being open towards the opposite handle and is T-shaped, seen in cross section through the sleeve. At one end, the slot has its cross section, which is suited to the cross-sectional dimensions of the spring, freely exposed for inserting the spring in the crossbar (5) of the T. The stem (6) of the T forms the opening of the slot and the spring is thereby kept in place by flanges (7) on either side of this opening, formed by the T configuration.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1980Date of Patent: December 8, 1981Assignee: Aktiebolaget Bahco VerktygInventors: Bengt B. Patent number: 4281612Abstract: A pair of opposed arms extend in spaced parallel arrangement to each other, each of which arms include relatively short handle portions and relatively long gripping portions. The inner or opposed gripping edge of each arm includes a plurality of jagged teeth formed by relatively deep notches in the opposed edges of the arms. The teeth and notches are provided throughout substantially the entire gripping portion. The notches extend into the surface of the arms a distance of at least one-half inch. The arms are joined together by a connection about a pivot point positioned intermediate the handle portion and the gripping portion. A compression spring extends between the handle portions for normally biasing the gripping portions toward a closed position. One of the handles of the device receives one end of a tether which is attached at the other end to the boat.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1979Date of Patent: August 4, 1981Inventor: Homer A. Watts
