Resilient Member Patents (Class 81/458)
  • Patent number: 11446797
Abstract: A single-sided fastener retaining device provides for low-profile, strong fastener retention, low FOD risk, compatibility with a wide range of driving tool and fastener types and sizes that is inexpensive to manufacture and capable of driving the fastener at an angle. A release mechanism includes a resilient arm and a lever arm joined by a fulcrum that contacts the shaft of a driving tool. A fork at the end of the lever arm includes first and second arms that extend to either side of and at least to the level of the axis of the driving tool to define an opening facing the axis to receive the shaft of a fastener of various sizes and hold the head of the fastener to the working end of the driving tool in a retained position. The release mechanism is responsive to the application of a force to elastically deform the resilient arm causing the lever arm to pivot on the fulcrum moving the fork away from the axis to a release position to release the fastener.

  • Patent number: 8726769
Abstract: The present invention provides a device made of a single piece of elastic material to be used to secure a fastener to a driving tool (such as a screwdriver) to facilitate insertion or extraction of the fastener. A characteristic of the invention is that a single device is applicable to a wide variety of fastener materials, configurations, and sizes, as well as a wide variety of insertion tool configurations and sizes. The device has two open ends with generally cylindrical or conical inner wall shape, including inner wall appendages and contours configured for gripping a driving tool of various sizes while gripping a fastener of various sizes in line with the driving tool. The device permits visibility of the fastener, automatic release of the fastener, and may be stored upon the driving tool.

  • Patent number: 8413549
Abstract: A revolving screwdriver with ratchet structure includes a handle, a pushing rod, and a sliding member. The sliding member has a receiving space and a holding chamber defined therein. A revolving cylinder is received in the holding chamber. The receiving space receives at least one ratchet wheel, two rotators, a limiting member, a base, and an adjuster. The at least one ratchet wheel engages with a driving shaft. The rotators selectively engage with the at least one ratchet wheel. The limiting member locates between the rotators and has a protrusion formed thereon. A base has a first guiding slot defined therein. The adjuster has a driving hole defined therein. The protrusion passes through the first guiding slot and the driving hole for being driven by the adjuster and moving along the first guiding slot.

  • Patent number: 5806381
Abstract: A ratchet screw driver includes a driving stem having a gear rotatably engaged in the bore of a handle and having a free end end for engaging with a fastener to be driven. A ratchet mechanism is engaged in the handle and engaged with the gear of the driving stem for selectively driving the driving stem. A barrel is rotatably engaged on the driving stem and movable along the driving stem for engaging around the fastener and for preventing the fastener from being tilted and for preventing the fastener from hurting the hand of the user.

  • Patent number: 5052249
Abstract: An elongated wrench for fastener bolts, such as commonly used with nuclear fuel assemblies for a boiling water type nuclear reactor. The bolt wrench includes a socket wrench mounted to a control rod, an outer cover for supporting the control rod for axial as well as rotational movement therein, a plurality of releasable hooks pivotally mounted to the control rod around the socket wrench, and a control lever for moving the outer cover relative to the control rod to cause the releasable hooks to grip a fastener bolt. In a second embodiment, a pair of releasable hooks having guide rollers are pivotally mounted to a support sleeve which, in turn, is mounted on the outer cover for axial movement relative thereto. An actuator link having a pair of guide grooves adapted to receive the associated rollers is movable along the support sleeve in response to axial movement of the outer cover relative to the control rod.

  • Patent number: 4744273
Abstract: A generally U-shaped attachment of resilient sheet metal is adapted to be axially captured relative to the drive shank and wrench socket of a socket wrench assembly so as to extend along opposite sides of the socket and then inwardly of the fastener receiving opening in the wrench socket to releaseably retain the head of the fastener therein during application or removal of the fastener from a mating part. The inwardly extending portions of the attachment provide cam surfaces which facilitate reception, retention and removal of a fastener head from the wrench socket opening.

  • Patent number: 4581963
Abstract: A plurality of devices are disclosed for supporting threaded screws in a plane normal to a surface into which the screws are threaded. Each embodiment includes means for supporting the shank of the screw at points intermediate the ends thereof rather than only at the head thereof. The means is resiliently expandable to permit passage of the head of the screw past the supporting means for disengagement of the device after the screw has obtained substantial threaded purchase with an engaged structure.
