  • Patent number: 5174177
Abstract: A hand tool including a pair of levers each including a handle portion, a jaw portion and a boss portion interconnecting the handle and jaw portions, with the levers being pivotally interconnected for normally permanently intended but relatively movable relationship. The lever sections are pivotally interconnected together along the boss portions for manipulation between internal and external tool operating positions. Movement between the internal and external positions is provided by a rotatable eccentric knob. The knob carries a spring biased lock for securing the levers in a selected one of its operating positions.

  • Patent number: 5150505
Abstract: An improved hand tool is presented that is useful to pull or push the base of the female member of a snap fastener provided on a heavy fabric-like covering. By pushing or pulling on the female snap member substantially along the plane of the fabric, the snap member can be positioned over a corresponding male snap member for secure fastening. The tool comprises a handle member, an arm, and a force member, which is further provided with tension and compression notches. The tool thus gives the operator a means to positively grasp the female snap member and efficiently apply tension to the fabric covering so as to stretch the covering into the proper shape without substantial damage to the fabric-like covering.

  • Patent number: 5095603
Abstract: A drum brake service tool and a method of using the same is disclosed. The tool comprises a lever having a pair of spaced, parallel arms disposed at one end thereof, the arms being adapted to receive a brake spring substantially perpendicularly therebetween. A brake-spring retaining mechanism is disposed proximate the free end of each of the arms. One of the free ends of the brake spring is passed over the brake-spring pin of one of the first or second brake shoes. The brake-spring is then engaged in between the arms of the lever. The lever is pivoted on the cam to extend the brake-spring to the point that the other free end of the spring lies proximate the brake-spring pin of the second brake shoe. The free end of the spring is then engaged with the pin of the second brake shoes. The tool may also be used to remove or install a brake roller in the brake shoes.

  • Patent number: 4979409
Abstract: An adjusting tool by which the adjusting ring of a clutch assembly can be rotated respective to the clutch cover. The tool is attached to the clutch cover at the access hole. Part of the tool engages the circumferentially extending spaced lugs formed near the outer periphery of the adjusting ring. The tool has gear teeth of a configuration to mesh with the spaced lugs on the ring and to drivingly engage and rotate the ring when the shaft is rotated about the longitudinal axis thereof. A mounting fixture is removably attached the cover access hole with the drive gear device extending into the access hole and into engagement with the lugs of the ring so that the wrench engaging means can be engaged with a suitable wrench and the ring rotated respective to the housing to thereby adjust the spring tension on the clutch assembly.

  • Patent number: 4953903
Abstract: A tool for assisting a person to attach the fabric top of a utility or military vehicle, such as a JEEP, to the back of the vehicle body. The tool is an adjustable length flexible belt with a loop at its lower end. A rigid hook mmber is attached to the upper end of the belt. The hook member fits over the usual rear cross rod over which the fabric top passes from front-to-back and down to the back of the vehicle body. The combined length of the hook and belt is slightly less than the vertical distance of the rear cross rod on the vehicle down to the ground or other support surface on which the vehicle rests. A person using the tool pushes his foot down on the loop at the lower end of the belt, causing the belt to pull the cross rod down far enough to make it easy to attach snap fastener elements on the lower back end of the fabric top to complementary snap fastener elements on the back of the vehicle body.

  • Patent number: 4776245
Abstract: A readjustable pair of pliers for mounting circlips has a handle which with the aid of a sidewardly bent attachment part is pivotally connected to an intermediate member carrying a jaw with an engagement pin. A second jaw carrying an engagement pin is rigidly connected with a second handle defining therewith a rigid unit to which said intermediate member is pivotally attached. The attachment part is defined by a parallelepipedic block tightly fitting in a corresponding groove in the intermediate member. By swinging the second handle through 180.degree. relative the intermediate member the mode of operation of the pair of pliers is altered in dependence on if a circlip for inner or for outer mounting has to be served.
