Double-ended, Simultaneous Adjustment Patents (Class 81/77)
  • Patent number: 9833882
Abstract: A wrench for rotating a hex head fastener has a frame having one or two jaw faces. If the frame has two faces, they form a 60 degree angle between them. A movable jaw has two faces forming an angle of about 120 degrees relative to each other. A guide connected to the frame controls movement of the movable jaw along a line forming an angle of about 40.9 degrees with respect to a position of one of the frame faces.

  • Patent number: 5685206
Abstract: A multi-purpose tool is provided and includes first and second elongate body members each having first and second ends. A torque surface is formed at one of the first and second ends of each of the body members. The torque surfaces are adapted for engagement with workpiece surfaces such as the flats of polygonal fastening elements. Driver heads are formed at the other ends of the body members and are adapted for engagement in slots of slotted fastening elements with the first body member driver head configured differently from the second body member driver head. The body members are secured together to allow relative movement therebetween with the torque surface of the first body member and the torque surface of the second body member generally facing each other to define an adjustable opening therebetween. • Patent number: 5606896
Abstract: A gripping box-wrench for engaging and torquing either undistorted or stripped nuts and bolts in tight spaces. A separate cam lever articulated from the wrench engages a rotatably-retained cam to apply a gripping force within a thin-wall polygonally-fluted box structure engaging a polygonal workpiece such as a hexagonal nut or bolt. Being applied by means of a separate cam lever, the gripping force may be varied independently of or proportionately with the torquing moment applied to the workpiece to increase the gripping force as necessary to retain engagement of a workpiece too distorted for torqueable engagement with the box structure. An undistorted nut or bolt may be engaged and torqued in the usual manner without requiring a gripping force. The box-end has a thin-walled geometry suitable for engaging workpieces in tight spaces.

  • Patent number: 4311070
Abstract: A double ended adjustable wrench for turning nuts, bolts, pipe and the like. The wrench is generally elongated in the manner of a conventional adjustable wrench, but the body of the wrench is made up of two substantially identical sections which are connected together for relative lateral movement toward and away from each other. The opposite ends of each section are appropriately shaped so that they cooperate with each other to define jaws which open and close as the two body sections move laterally. A mechanism is provided for movably connecting the two body sections together and for adjustably moving them relative to each other in order to open the jaws in a parallel manner a desired amount within predetermined limits. The jaws at one end are larger than the jaws at the other end, and at least one end of the wrench includes serrated jaws, so that a single wrench constructed in accordance with the principles of the invention replaces at least two if not three standard adjustable wrenches.
